ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday NFL Countdown that the Cardinals have consulted Larry Fitzgerald about what they should do at quarterback this offseason.
Fitz's "first recommendation" was to pursue Kevin Kolb. He reportedly also "brought up" free agent Marc Bulger. With Fitz entering into the final year of his current contract, the Cardinals can be expected to take what he says to heart as they look to begin talks on a new deal. Feb. 6 - 10:25 am et
wow, how much disarray is your franchise in when they are asking a WR who they should get as a QB??
isnt this something the Cards front office should be able to handle by themselves?

i think its a good idea to consult him. he's the best player on their team, one of the best in all of the NFL, and he is a classy and professional player. as long as they don't let him actually make the decision, I think including him in the discussion is a pretty smart move, if they want him to stick around.
that said, i hope this blows up in their faces.

he's their star WR..they want to get some advice from him...its not like they're using ONLY his opinion..just consulting w/ him regarding their new QB

players play, execs run the team. Larry Fitzgerald has only played with, and caught passes from a handful of guys. How should he know who would be good for them and who wouldnt? he spends his time learning the playbook and staying in top physical shape, not scouting QBs around the league.
Theres a reason hes a WR, and theyre the scouting team. their whole job is to know which QB are good, and which are not. and then find a way to get a good one. Asking your best WR who he likes just shows they have no idea what theyre doing. you should only be interested in getting the QB you feel is the best for your franchise. not worrying about making your best WR happy.
Fitz said "Marc Bulger" as an option. as a Niner fan, i would LOVE to see Marc Bulger in AZ.
This is like Fitz going to the scouting guys and saying "hey, um....do you guys know how this play package works? i dont really get it, what do i do here?"
I know everyone on this board would be furious if Jed York asked a player who we should get for a QB.

like i said, as long as they're just getting his input and not just doing whatever he says, then i don't see the problem. i don't think its unheard of for major, star players to have a big input on the team. They are basically giving Fitzgerald the respect that a Manning or Brady gets, IMO.
also, like, i said, i hope it blows up in their faces. so i have no dog in this fight.

its one thing if hes just saying thumbs up or down on the guy they want, just as a factor in part of their decision. but actually letting his opinion dictate what they do would be really stupid.
when a bad team with no QB has their front office asking their star WR who they should go after, it sends the message like they arent really sure what theyre doing. whether they really dont know who to get, or they just want to please Fitz so he wont leave, either way its dysfunctional.
hopefully they stay bad for a while.

That would be awesome! If they were dumb enough to keep him for 6 years that is 12 guaranteed wins for us!

However, it may just give Fitzgerald the wrong impression if they go completely against his wishes. The success of this move comes down to how much Fitzgerald has his sights on a particular person.

Well they gotta keep him happy to retain him.....so I guess asking him who he wants to catch passes from is a pretty good start.

Cardinals front office really needs to sign Fitz to an extension. They need to appease him by getting a QB. Otherwise he will wave to Arizona.

Quote:
Fitz's deal
In 2008, Fitzgerald signed a five-year contract that voided to four provided Fitzgerald met minimal performance standards.
He's done that, meaning his contract, which averages $10 million a year, will expire after the 2011 season. To avoid reaching that point, the Cardinals are expected to discuss a new contract with Fitzgerald no later than this spring, although a lockout could change the timeline.
Fitzgerald has all the leverage. Under terms of the present deal, the Cardinals cannot trade Fitzgerald or place the franchise tag on him.
Without those options, the Cardinals will want to reach agreement on an extension before Fitzgerald begins his final contract year.
If a new deal isn't reached by the start of the 2011 season, Fitzgerald could decide to see what the market will bear for a top receiver who will turn 29 in 2012. And it will bear a lot.
In deciding whether to remain with the Cardinals, Fitzgerald will consider not only how much money the team is willing to throw at him, but who is throwing balls to him.
Like any great receiver, Fitzgerald wants the ball. A lot.
With Kurt Warner at quarterback, he was certain of getting it. From 2007 through 2009, Fitzgerald averaged 98 receptions, 1,310 yards, 12 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl each year.
With Anderson, things are different. Fitzgerald, with 19 receptions, 208 yards and two touchdowns, is on pace for his least productive season since 2006, when he missed three games with a hamstring injury.

Asking advise from Fits can't be worse than whatever they did last year to adress the qb situation.

Well, good for us.
