We should take Mike Brown at his word. If they trade Palmer they would be in worse shape for a QB than the 49ers are now. At least the 49ers have David Carr, an experienced if mediocre QB. Cincy has only Carson's little brother who has only thrown 15 passes in three years in the league.

Though Cincy fans would like to see a better QB, they are faced with the same exact thing as the 49ers - they don't like what they have but can't face the fact he is about as good as they can get. Until they draft and train a new QB, Carson Palmer isn't going anywhere unless the price gets bid up to a 1st round pick.

All this will get played out at the same time as Kolb and Orton are played. If any one of the three actually gets traded, the value of that trade will go a long way to dictating what the other two might bring. Hence, Philly, Denver and Cincy will all be sitting back waiting to see which other team becomes the most desperate for a QB and will overpay to get one of those three. Once that happens things will start to happen in a hurry. My guess is that all three will bring at least a 2nd in a trade.

Their season just ended and he's watching well-coached teams and QB's do well. Knee-jerk reaction. He will be with CIN when next season begins.

He's seen his seventh NFL season completed with the same HC and OC and knows he's going to be looking up at the Steelers and Ravens for years to come. I think this is more than knee-jerk.
All a hoax just to get the max deal for him.
Good he's worse than Alex Smith. Maybe now all you guys can get off his bandwagon. He's horrible. Have you seen him play in the recent years? The 2010 version is worse than the 2010 Alex Smith...

Even so, Palmer has demanded a trade, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. Furthermore, should the team fail to comply, Palmer has threatened to retire. A source has told Mortensen that this is no empty threat, as Palmer has maintained that he's financially secure for the rest of his life.

I'd love to see Palmer stick to his word. If the Bengals were smart, they'd just trade him and be done with it, cut their losses.

True but then they would just have to go out and try to get an interim QB until they coach up a rookie. Sound familiar?

Mike Brown has called players' bluffs before and backed them down. I wouldn't be surprised if he does it again. Of course it is all speculation and posing until the new CBA is in place.
