Take a look at Watters numbers at 15000 total yards and 91 touch downs compared to 15000 total yards 94 touch downs for Bettis. Same number of championships. Total bias.

Charles Haley was a beast, he was so disruptive, always put pressure.on the QB, just wonder what team he would choose if he went in.

Everyone not on the West Coast literally could give a f**k. As if we weren't a real side of the USA.

and Ricky Watters retired early because he was afraid to fly. he was already scared to death of airplanes, and then 9/11 happened and he never played again.
he had some good years left too. wouldve surpassed Bettis.

i dont think he got enough credit and i also think he played in a era that particular era of football where the west coast was exploding and in the niners system where a rb was seen as "PLUG N PLAY." the WC was so dominant, revolutionary that it was seen as an O that didnt particularly need a great RB to generate good numbers. not to mention watters played in a time with superb RBs, that hurts his chances. watters put up good numbers with 3 teams.
he and craig both deserve to be in the HALL.

Or maybe, just maybe it's the fact that Bettis is 5th all time in rushing yards. Yes their yard's from scrimmage is comparable, but 20th on the list and 5th on the list. hmm!
the only RB's that made it in the HOF that rushed for under 11,000 yards all retired by 1985.

What's the difference between the yards it's like saying dollar bills are different if you get them from the ATM or directly from the teller. Yards are yards.

and 5th ALL-TIME leading rusher is 5th ALL-TIME leading rusher.
5th ALL-TIME leading rusher > 20th ALL-TIME yards from scrimmage leader.
ONLY 4 PLAYERS IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL HAD MORE RUSHING YARDS THAN BETTIS. JUST 4!

Problem is you looking at numbers when the NFL hall of fame is more about memorable moments than huge numbers. If you had solid career but made huge impactful plays in the playoffs then you are in over a guy like Watters. Watters do have the numbers, but he doesn't have enough memorable moments in the clutch that the masses remember. Watters has huge numbers but I doubt he will ever get in b/c he was never overly dominant. The bus plays for the Steelers and them having the strongest fan base in the NFL does help him get in along with his media friendly personality. It's not fair process but it's how it is. When folks say Bettis they recognize the cool nickname the smile, and going out on top. Then you look at his numbers, and bam he's in. You say Ricky Watters the masses say oh yeah he was alright, then are surprised when they see his numbers. It's just not cut and dry with the numbers and the NFL hall of fame.

I cant stand Hines Ward cheap-shot-taking smiling ass. Once upon a time about 6 years ago, some ESPN analyst said how much Hines enjoys the game and how he smiles after evry hit. Now it seems like he's forced to smile even if he doesnt want to.

I think those great Niner teams had such top of the line star power--look at the rankings from the NFL Network of the top 100 football players of all time.
Rice # 1
Montana # 4
Lott # 11
such star power hurts some of the other great Niner players during those years--like Craig.
