With Harbaughs' touch, Cam will be THAT kinda QB that this league will see once in a life time... Each time i watch the guy play, you just feel the IT all over him.. and if he has to sit for a year, so be it.. This guy will bring the Montana-Young presence back to San Francisco..
He just got that Magic Johnson charisma in him...
plus, who in this draft is "a sure thing" anyways..
I'm really glad you're not in charge

Cam has the potential to be maybe the greatest of all time. It's just a matter of how badly does he want it? Will he put in the time behind the scenes that Peyton or Brady do? If the answer is yes, he's worth the #7 pick.

More than any other QB we could draft. Look at what Harbaugh did with Josh Johnson. Newton is the heavyweight version of him. Without the Russell man titties. Has Cam worked out for NFL scouts, GM's, coaches and the like yet ? I bet they will wait until they see the workout to decide where his value truly sits and whether or not they deem him franchise QB material worth attempting to land or not.

Just keeping insulting and you won't be on this site come draft day.
Thanks for the convincing argument on Newton as well.
-He is dumb
(Source, link, actual proof ?)
-Comes from a gimmick offense
(Not the first QB to do so, won't be the last as as previously mentioned other very successful NFL QB's came from a gimmick offense)
-Will take 2 or more years to develop
(Some believe he needs a year, some say 2. For all we know he could be ready to go on opening day...it's all guesswork as to how fast he picks up the offense and gains the confidence of the coaching staff)
-1 year wonder
(Did he not win 2 NC's ? Granted one was on a different level of competition he still dominated there only to come into the FBS system and dominate it as well. He was also a top recruit, five star according to Rivals. The talent has always been there and recognized. He still dominated and showed a s**t ton of potential.)
-He is a potential bust
(So is every draft prospect, there is no such thing as a sure thing).
I am not 100% convinced what we should do at 7 one way or the other, but ATM I believe Newton is a viable option. Until we see how he fares in his offseason workouts we won't really know what his true draft value is. One thing is for sure from what we do know, he oozes with potential.

I agree with every word u said about Cam. He has all the tools to be a great Qb and come April he will have a Coach to refine his mechanics to create the total package. Then all these Cam Haters... can choke on their on words!

i'm looking forward to his combine and pro day stuff. right now i don't want to take him, or any QB, at 7, but the kid wins and he's a physical freak. any QB we take is going to need a year or two to develop, and if Cam shows he has the potential to be like a Roethlisberger, then I'm all for grabbing him in the top ten. but we'll have to see how he does in his workouts.

i dont understand, is there really a QB in this draft (outside Locker) that has a bigger upside than Cam??
No way i'd compare Cam to Vick, this guy was pure speed at Virginia Tech.. Michael Vick is a superb athlete who CAN play the quarterback position.. it's just like the guy from Arkansas qb (Matt Jones) whom the Jaguars drafted.. he and Michael Vick was similar as both were a fine athlete that can play QB..
as for Vince Young's comparison, anyone who tries to compare Cam to this guy just tells me that he/she didnt not watch college football last year, or when Vince was playing.. Vince Young didnt beat nor, could he beat any team with his arm alone.. Young's passing ability never squared anyone, it was his pure running ability that everyone was worried..
as for Cam, he will never be a passer like Manning or Brady, but with Harbaugh refining his skills, he will be a great QB in the league..
and last but not the least, lets not fall for another Alex Smith scenario here.. Everyone saw Rodgers as the better QB the year they were in college, and we all witness how special Cam was from last year, so please, let's not fall for Nolanism's "Aaron may be the better QB, but I'll win with my guy..."

Last week in San Antonio at least six different teams said they rank Auburn quarterback Cam Newton as the number one prospect in the draft. The opinions were comprised from scouts, personnel directors and a few coaches.
Funny, when it's all said and done it's possible we won't even have a chance at Newton. Maiocco had Newton going #1 right? It could happen, it reminds me of Bradford/Suh last year. A lot thought that Suh should have been the pick, but eventually most people realized that a franchise qb was better than a beast d-lineman. Carolina is facing the same question now, get a dominant lineman or a possible franchise qb?

If he goes #1 that'd be sick. You can guess Fairley will be picked #2 or #3. That means Peterson, Miller, Dareus, Gabbert, or Quinn all have a great chance to slip to us. If Newton were to go #1, that'd give us a great shot at one of those guys, and possibly a choice between 2 of them considering where Bowers could also be picked. Still have to wait for the combine to shake out but we would have a great shot at a player who is very unlikely to be a bust.

YES!!!!
More hope that the Panthers fall in love with him and prospects continue to drop!!
I also predicted Newton would go #1 to the Panthers. (Its somewhere on this board)
But when all the smoke clears I think its probably going to be between Gabbert and Newton going #1 overall.

Awesome Evil.
One more point on McNabb and Vick...they played sparingly their rookie years. But when they became starters their second year....guess what? McNabb single handedly took the Eagles to the NFC title game, and Vick took out the unbeatable Farve and the Packers at Lambeua in the playoffs.
Newton is the next in the evolution of QBs. If coached right, he has a chance to be special. No one like him and his tools in the NFL.
