Uh, don't think so. Stanford runs a 3-4 defense. Take a look at their website and it will prove it.

In regards to the offensive coordinator, Harbaugh is much like Gruden because he is the play caller/offensive coordinator.

Thats all Great !!

They played in a 3-4 alignment almost all base downs and switching to a 3-3-5 on 2nd and short 3rd dwns. When introducing the D they introduced it as a 3-4... Crazy huh?

You got me, I just made the 4-3 thing up. They are aggresive though.

YOu Better go ask someone about his D, obviously.... I was just trowing names out there for CoOrdinators not for HC job. Plus i could care less if you dont like him, you cant lie about stats my friend.

C'mon man.
mcdaniels for o-coordinator? interesting prospect.

At one point in the 3rd Q one of the announcers said that Standford had blitzed on 20+ plays... Defense had probly only played 30 snaps

I'm not disputing his D coordinator abilities... I KNOW he's an above average coordinator. But since you don't seem to have a clue, I'll fill you in on the obvious thoughts that crossed most people's minds who read the original post:

Mike Nolan used to be a head coach.
Mike Nolan was the head coach of the 49ers.
Mike Nolan failed miserably as the head coach of the 49ers.
Mike Nolan was fired by the 49ers.

Now, why in the hell would we hire Mike Nolan AGAIN, and why in the Hell would Mike Nolan want to come back to the team he was a head coach for and got fired from?

Because after everything you say, ALthough it is TRUE about his prior dealings with the 49ers, this is a league/game of results. Where Wins and Losses cures or destroys all. Nobody in the 49ers upper managment cares what you or i think. If they needed help on the D (which they do, although i to doubt he ever returns) if they thought he was the one for the job im sure they would give it to him..

But since i dont seem to have a clue about his prior history, or so you say, i defend the fact that he is still one of the BEST D CoOrdinators in the league.. Sooooo thats why i put him on the "CoOrdinator list"... Hence the subject "CoOrdinators" not ppl that will never return to the 49ers.
The interesting thing about Fangio is that he was pretty heavily criticized, if I remember correctly, in his stints as DC in Indy and Houston. Its curious that he then went to Baltimore as an assistant -- almost like a training program!? Can't argue that his defenses have been praised at Stanford.
Or we could just pull those two guys off of NFL network's The Coaches Show... Mora for DC and Billick for OC...

Alright so i am interested to see our HC is, but reguardless who they are they still need CoOdinators..

So option 1 and the only option the niners seem to want is J. Harbaugh
On O he runs a hybrid WCO with David Shaw as the OC/RB coach. On D he runs a 3-4 with Vic Fangio as the DC.

So. We need Offense like no other.. I think we all would agree

D. Shaw had coached the previous nine seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles (1997), Oakland Raiders (1998-2001) and Baltimore Ravens (2002-05). His recievers looked like they couldnt catch a cold last night. Would like to see someone else. At the bottom i list a few other options

V. Fangio NFL resume includes,1995-98 Carolina Panthers Defensive Coordinator,1999-01 Indianapolis Colts Defensive Coordinator, 2002-05 Houston Texans Defensive Coordinator, 2006-08 Baltimore Ravens Special Assistant to Head Coach, 2009 Baltimore Raves Special Assistant to Head Coach/Linebackers. I like the V. FAngio and was sold by his performance last night. I wouldnt mind seeing what else hes got.

Option 2: I think HC could be J.FOx but the whole point is who is out there that we need to target???...

Here is a list of some CoOrdinators what do you think:
E. Mangini (Un-employed)
M. Nolan (Dolphins)
R. Ryan (Browns)
K. Butler (Steelers LB coach)
J. Washburn (Titans DL coach)
J. McDaniels (Un-employed)
H. Jackson (Raiders)
T. Cable (un-employed)
P. Fewell (Giants)
M. Tice (Bears)
J. Fox (un-employed)
J. Zorn (Ravens)

I would like to see a Vet coaching staff after our lack of (by vet i mean experianced).. All good if we get Harbaugh but lets get some perfectionist in here coaching/developing talent..

I'll be sure to get this message to Harbaugh and let him know this is who you want!
We cannot afford to fear excellence. Fear that our coodinators will leave to become HCs is a good thing. It will mean that they are well respected. What's the alternative? We had Hostler as an OC. He never left us to be a HC. Have you heard of Raye being offered a HCing job? I wonder why. Hiring inferior coordinators so that there is no danger to him being hired away is not a smart strategy.

All good teams deal with this risk. How many coordinators has NE lost over the years? It hasn't slowed them down much. The solution is to hire the very best, while identifying talented young coaches to apprentice beneath them. When you lose a coordinator, you prompt the youngster. Simple.
I heard somewhere (can't remember where) that Jim Harbaugh would hire Bill Callahan as his OC if he becomes an NFL HC. Did anyone else hear the same thing?

Bill Callahan- Asst. HC/Offensive Line (NY Jets)

Wasn't he the HC for the Raiders a while back?

What kind of O does Bill Callahan run... I thought the raiders led the league in passing when he was HC there???
