Browns Run the A-11 Offense for a Touchdown...no flags.

Did anyone else see this? The A-11 is a revolutionary offense that could change the game completely, but most consider it illegal in the NFL in college...nobody tried it until Sunday.

Now, it wasn't a TRUE A-11 because they didn't have TWO QBs -- they put the would-be second quarterback in the slot. Also, the defense knows who is ineligible in the outside pods due to jersey number -- although they could be declared eligible.

This IS the next big thing if it stays legal.
as a gadget play, sure it could work but no way in hell will that be someones base offense.

That's what the old-timers initially thought about the forward pass, so your comment is invalrod.

(always wanted to say that).

They could have also put Joe Thomas in motion (as Tackle-eligible), brought him back in, and run off-tackle...or pitch it outside with two blockers...
doesn't look like it'll last very long

Not the same thing at all. The tackles, though split out wide, are still the tackles, not eligible. they are each covered by a receiver just like in a normal allignment, they just happen to be 10 yards away from the guard. They couldnt be eligible unless they were a 6th linemen or if a receiver lined up inside of them, making the receiver ineligible.
why not blitz? well they probably were never expecting it so... i doubt we'll see that for quite some time.

To be fair, the Bills schemed against it pretty well. They had two guys covering Royal and he made a heck of a diving catch.

I seem to remember the Wildcat being the next new way everyone does offense

Even Miami abandoned it this year.

You're exactly correct. There were no flags because no rules were broken. Seven men were on the LOS and no covered players crossed the line of scrimmage.

It was just a very funky formation.
