2-time Pro Bowler & 2-time First-Team All-Pro

Set an NFL record with his 14th return for touchdown

He also tied former RB Eric Metcalf for the most punt returns for score in NFL history with 10.

NFL 2000s All-Decade Team (2nd team)

8× NFC Player Of The Week

NFL records: Punt return touchdowns, season: 4, Combined kick return touchdowns, season: 6 (4 punts, 2 kickoffs), Non-offensive touchdowns, season: 6, twice.

92 yard kickoff return in Super Bowl XLI. (not included in return record)

Brian Mitchell took 1070 returns to get to 13 return touchdowns.

Hester took 270 returns to get to 14.

YES! As long as he remains healthy, he will "return" his way into the Hall of Fame by the end of his career.
I don't know but the b*****d knocked me out of two potential fantasy football championship games with his latest punt return td.

Honestly though, I think he deserves some consideration. I think he has to do more than just break the record, I believe he needs at least 5 or so more. He still has plenty of years left in him to make even more of an impact on the field. Still it's probably hard for a Return Specialist to make it to the HOF. Actually I don't think anyone has made the HOF as a return man.

How did it take him 270 games to break the record when he's only been in the league 5 years?

It took Mitchell 223 games

It took Hester 66.

I have no clue where those stats came from.

I've never known of anyone to go in primarily as a kick returner, but if he puts that record out of the stratosphere (around 20 returns), he may get consideration.

He's just as much of a gamechanger as Michael Vick, Tom Brady, and Alex Smith.

He will go into the HOF just like the other 3.

Yes absoultely

People always like to say Special Teams is 1/3 of the game

and Hester is hte greatest returner of all time
he certainly has the accomplishments to warrant HOF status, IMO, but it will really depend on who he is up against when he is eligible. Unless he puts up really good numbers on offense over the next few years, I think he could have trouble getting in for his first few years of eligibility.
