hell no Parcells has no idea how to fix a team they totally destroyed the dolphins roster this year

you're kidding, right?

cosigned, he replaced Jason Taylor with a younger pass rusher, got them Karlos Dansby and Brandon Marshall, got them some nice young WRs for Henne in Hartline and extending Bess, plus they have a good secondary. Seriously?

exactly. the dolphins have improved a lot the last few years. They're competitive in one of the toughest divisions in football.

he did a great job his first year but since then he has been slowly destroying the roster

1 He got rid of one of the best guards in the leauge in Smiley for Igcognito and Proctor

2 Still does not have a QB

3 Did not want to resign Ronnie Brown to an extension

4 got rid thier pro bowl caliber C (Satalle) for Berger

5 Drafted Jason Allen CB over Darrell Revis

6 traded thier #2 Wr for a draft pick??

7 Signed FS Gibril Wilson

8 Spent a 2nd round pick on QB John Beck

9 Spent a 2nd round pick on Pat White

10 Drafted Ted Ginn over PAt Willis

that is some off the top of my head

he didn't draft Ginn.

or John Beck, and who was their #2 WR that they traded? Ginn?

Allen was drafted in 2006, Revis was drafted in 2007
Bill Parcells is getting way too much credit and criticism here.

Jeff Ireland is the General Manager of the Dolphins. Ireland had final decision written into his contract.

Parcells was the Executive Vice President of Football Operations. He was brought into Miami with a three year time-clock to hire a Head Coach and a General Manager.

Ok fine, but wouldn't you rather have him doing that for the 9ers than Jed and Paraag?

Our problem isn't just that the Yorks don't want to spend money on top notch coaches and front office people, it's that they can't identify top notch coaches and front office people in the first place.

I genuinely don't believe that simply bring in Parcells (or any other coach turned executive) would fix any of the issues the 49ers currently have.

It's an easy answer want to bring in an established name for the sake of change. Parcells (and anyone else for that matter) would simply hire their guys (see Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland). How is this any different than Jed York and Paraag Marathe hiring Singletary?

If you recall, Bill Walsh was brought in by DeBartolo as a rookie Head Coach without a General Manager. Walsh was 8-24 through his first two seasons. Walsh appointed and fired his own staff (including the hiring of John McVay). People in the Bay Area wanted to fire Walsh back in '80 as well.

Despite his lack of experience and mistakes, I'm not ready to give up on Singletary after just 31 games. It would be careless and reactionary without fully evaluating this season.

The difference between Jed and Parcells hiring their own people is that Parcells has a long track record of knowing what the hell he was doing. Parcells also has a slight hunch to who knows something about football.

Jed York has a history of knowing nothing and was probably intrigued that Singletary looked cool in his 1988 Topps football card collection

So did someone forget what he did with the Giants, Jets, Patriots, and Cowgirls?

Bill Parcells was a tremendous defensive architect and two time Super Bowl winner during the 1980's.

He parlayed that success into four lucrative contracts that yielded zero Super Bowl victories spanning 14 years. One conference championship through eleven seasons and three teams. Just four seasons with ten or more wins.

If we're hiring coaches due to their successes from thirty years ago, we might as well dig up the corpse of Vince Lombardi.

But you've proposed that the 49ers hire Parcells on the basis of his coaching career. If you'd like, I can replace coach with executive if it makes you feel warm inside again.

i AM warm inside, because I'm full of guts and black stuff.

I think we should hire him on the basis of his ability to bring in good football people and structure an organization, a la what he did with the Dolphins.

The Dolphins were 1-15 and then hired Parcell and went 11-5 and AFC East champs in years 1

The Cowboys had 3 straight 5-11 seasons, hired Parcells and went 10-6 and playoffs in year 1

Jets were 4-28 under Kotite, hired Parcells and went 9-7 year 1 and then 12-4 year 2

Patriots were 2-14 and then hired Parcells and in 2 years they were 10-6 and in a Super Bowl in 96

Giants had 1 winning season in 10 years, hired Parcells in 83 and won the Super Bowl in 86 and 90

What exactly has Jed York and Singletary done that is remotely close to what Parcells has been doing the last 3 decades?

I cant believe we are arguing with rathman considering how unstructured our organization is right now and the history Parcells has of quickly turning things around with 5 teams in 3 decades

The Dolphins haven't sustained a level of success following the 2008 season.

And it isn't at all strange that Parcells has stepped down from his position after two seasons? Or that Jeff Ireland could be fired this season?

It must be easy as a fan to simply hold up a sign reading "Dump York" or "Hire Parcells."

Football isn't that easy.
