Hey, Tex, your thread is getting stomped like a narc at a biker rally. Better luck next time, but, collectively, universally, and unanimously, we are ALL jumping out of that b**ches window.
We can't all be heroes- someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.

Can you really blame him?
Obviously we don't know all the details, but if it were me, and there were a gun in the room, it wouldn't be a 19 year old girl exchanging fire with some ex. It would be me shooting some foot who broke into my room.
Maybe he didn't have a chance to get the gun or to prevent it, but yeah, in my opinion if he's going to put himself in that situation, he needs to help handle it.
Two basically children (kids literally not old enough to own handguns, at least in most states) are left to potentially just kill each other?? Yeah, there had to be a better option.
Again, we don't know yet if he came in blasting, or even if she fired first, or if it was civil and turned crazy. But one way or another, he was the freakin' adult in that situation and should have either found a way to prevent the guy from getting in at all and/or helped resolve the situation instead of fleeing. Even if that meant he had to take the guy out himself.
If he's man enough to hit it, he should be man enough to handle his business.
And throw away your NFL career? Riiiiigggghhhtttt........
If it was worth it when he decided to hit it, it was worth it when trouble came up. I hate crap like this. It's an okay decision to tap 19 year old ass when it's just all fun and game, but if trouble comes up, you can bail because you "have something to lose"? Should have thought of that first. Just like getting her knocked up, or having your wife/gf find out.
If you are going to do the crime.....
And in regards to she's an "adult", yes legally, but not really. Anyone out of college, or certainly over 30 should understand where I am coming from. Yes, technically she is old enough to do whatever, but given who she is and who he is, if he is going to go after girls that young, he needs to be the man if needed.
(Most) 19 year olds are still just kids in their decision making and their actions, they are not mature adults. If as a mature, professional adult, you want to date someone like that, and potentially (through their involvement in your world, or your involvement in theirs), deal with the consequences, then so be it. You are grown ass man.
But if you are going to "hit it and quit it" when the s**t hits the fan (which you know it will), you are not much of a man in my book. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. You can't go after 19 year olds as a 30 year old pro athlete and not expect drama.
That's preposterous. I don't think it's reasonable to think you'll be getting a gun pointed at you and shot at when you decide to date a young woman.

Then I feel for all of you. Granted, it's my wife not some piece on the side, but if a psycho ex came charging into my house with a piece, he'd leave on stretcher with some holes in him long before I'd leave out my 2nd story bedroom window.
And if I was dumb enough to be in the same situation with some 19 year old side piece, I'm pretty sure it would end the same way.

Please, don't feel for me. We are NOT talking about a WIFE, we are talking about some chick (there are harsher words for women like this) with a psycho ex-bf exchanging gunfire. If it's my house, that's one thing, if it's her house... I'm outtie- forever.

Please explain how you would accomplish this? Do you have a loaded gun, safety off; in your hands at ALL times.....or do you simply call a timeout?

You don't need the details on where/how I keep my guns, but be assured that by the time someone broke in, they would make enough noise that I would have it ready for them.

Currently, but that wouldn't have changed regardless of what states I've lived in.

If I f**k you like no other, will you protect me in the same manner?

exactly, and the point is you are painting a different picture then what most of us are picturing what went down with Osgood.
I am picturing somebody had the drop on him. End o story. I actually give him props for getting away more than anything else.

There's your flaw in logic. It's not his wife it's some girl who's guts he's beating. Plain and simple. You wouldn't risk your life for a girl that WHOA suddenly has some MAJOR baggage. Not to mention you're not just an average person -- you're an NFL WR.
Oh and in this case it was someone else's house... so the whole security of where you keep your guns is completely empty.

Even if you're Jack Bauer or Chuck Norris, someone with a gun can get the drop on you.
