Titans file suit against Kiffin, USC

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans are suing Southern California and coach Lane Kiffin for "maliciously" luring away assistant running backs coach Kennedy Pola a week before training camp opens.
Tennessee Football Inc., the company that owns the Titans, filed the lawsuit Monday in Davidson County Chancery Court against both the university and Kiffin.
The lawsuit accuses Southern California and Kiffin of violating Pola's contract that required him to have written permission to discuss a job with anyone other than the Titans.
Tennessee signed Pola on Feb. 1. Kiffin hired Pola on Saturday as his offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Southern California.
The Tennessean first reported the lawsuit on its website.

Kiffin is a huge douche, USC needs to clean up their image and they're not going to do it with this guy running the show.

I don't understand this.
How do you "maliciously" lure away an assistant.

The Titans have a good case. Their coach was under contract by the Titans. The contract states that the coach can interview for a position of advancement, ie qb coach to offensive coordinator. However the team must be notified before any interviews take place.
Kiffin did not seek permission, the person interviewed and the Titans found out about it after the fact, hence malicous.
Kiffin is a punk spoiled Gen Yer used to skirting rules and getting his way. The Titans are going to win this case hands down.

Kiffin is a punk, glad to see the Titans at least putting him through the ringer. Kiffin better hope it doesn't go to court in Tennessee

+1 on this one.
So who is supposed to know the terms of his contract - the person with the contract, or a Coach halfway across the country? Seems like the Titans should be suing their assistant for violating the terms of his contract.
* Note: This post should in no way be taken as an endorsement of Kiffen or his actions.

Malicious is a term of art used in contract law suits.
Kiffin basically interfered with the employment contract of the Titans and caused the breach in contract.
Claiming ignorance only works for children. Doesn't get you many points in a court room
