Doesn't mean he won't play.
Now, thinking about the fact that he got waived, this means another team could pick him up if they wanted, I believe. I suppose it's a safe bet that no one will right now. But as long as he clears waivers, the Giants will still hold his rights on their reserve list and can activate him at any point after that if he becomes physically ready to play.
