All i gotta say is if Dez goes through all OTA's, Mini-Camp, Training Camp, he better at LEAST get 600yards in the season, Crabs did that while missing all of that plus missed the first 5 games of the season.
if he doesn't then Cowgirl fans = FAIL
Not really. Right now at best he is the team's #3 WR and they are a team with 3 good backs and a great pass catching TE. Last year Crayton had a little over 600 yards as the #3 and that's with Roy Williams not producing like a number 1 (less than 40 catches and 600 yards). If Williams steps up, it's possible there won't be enough touches to go around for him to produce those kind of numbers but he can still be an impact player and give teams fits trying to gameplan and stop all that offensive talent.
I think he'll be the #2 come start of season, just don't see Williams stepping up, even as a #2 he will get quite a bit a passes thrown his way
I'm not so sure they will ask him to fill those shoes so early, I think they give Williams a chance to prove himself, and if either Williams or the offense as a whole sputters then they will make the change to the depth chart. The earliest he will be in the starting lineup IMHO is after the bye (week 5). With the money they threw at Williams (and the draft picks) they have to have that question answered, if not he will be on the trade block during the bye week.
Cowboys fans IMO should be more concerned with Jason Garrett, because we are about to find out just how good of an OC he truly is.
I completely agree with everything. Dez is a rookie, so they will try to slow bring him into the offense like the Vikings did with Percy Harvin. Plus Jerry wants to do everything he can to try to make the Roy Williams trade pan out (I don't think it will). I do think Roy finishes out the season with us though. Just not at the #2 spot. I think he'll fall behind Dez Bryant and Kevin Ogletree (who has the potential to be a pretty good receiver himself).
Jason Garrett is the one part of our offense I worry about most (besides the o-line). I haven't been impressed with his play calling at all. I have my doubts about him, but with our offensive talent I still think we'll be top 10 (should be top 5 though).
Cowboys fan
Yep
How come you guys all soured on Jason Garrett now? I remember back in 07 when TO was there and you played NY in the playoffs everyone thought he'd be a good head coach candidate. What happened? Just the non playoff year with TO in 08 or what?
Well his best year was the year we went 13-3, and he got a lot of credit for that. The thing though is that Tony Sparano was on the team and he helped Garrett out a lot, but after Sparano left to take the head coaching job for the Dolphins our offense declined.
We also have problems with his personnel decisions. Felix Jones is one of the best runningbacks in the league (top 5 running the ball IMO), but Barber gets the majority of the carries. Felix averages over 6 ypc for his career. Also he was playing an injured Barber over a healthy Tashard Choice even though Choice is averaging over 5 ypc for his career.
Also no matter how ineffectual Roy Williams was he kept starting. If he hadn't gotten hurt in the Broncos game, we might never have found out what Miles Austin could do.
Most Cowboys fans though have a problem with his play calling more than anything. It's predictable and he will try to force things even if they aren't working. Last year we had 1st & Goal from the 1 and he gave it to Barber all 4 times. We didn't score. Also he didn't adjust very well in the Vikings playoff game. Jared Allen got a sack once because Witten was supposed to be blocking him one on one
.
Haha well sorry for the long post.
