I still think teams will want the ball first in OT. You score a TD, game over.

I hate this rule...so stupid... they will probably change it back in a couple of years.
just because you lose a damn coin toss, too bad... I don't care if it is my 9ers.
if you can't stop an offense from moving 60+ yards in most important drive of your season..down to overtime....then you need to retool your defense in the offseason, SIMPLE AS THAT!

If you cant stop an offense when it counts the most then you dont deserve to win the damn game!

If it comes down to OT, and you lose on the opening possesion, well WAH WAH all you want, but you had your chance. You had sixty minutes worth of football to win it and in OT you had better put up, or shut up. This is a farce. I hope it backfires on the NFL like nothing else.
One day, this will benefit us with a win that could have been a loss due to a field goal.

This new rule actually makes it easier for the team that kicks the ball in OT. They kick-off and are still garaunteed possession along with a chance at a shorter field from a punt to win the game whereas the team with the first possession most likely gets it from their 20 on their possession.
great point but then the team does have a choice whether to recieve or kick the ball after the coin flip

i actually love it, it gives the coach an option to settle for a field goal or go for the kill. if you ask me, makes it 10 times more fun to watch

This is a perpetual cycle that is never going to end.
A concept will arise that will add to the entertainment value of the product while taking away from the purity of the contest.
Over time the concept will grow ever more popular with the supporters who will either minimize or flat out reject any affect on the sanctity of the game.
Until the day when owners realize that it is popular enough to make more money off of.
This is how the NFL will continue to change the game of football.
You can call it evolution, or it could be devolution
