Ben got effed imo. The guy didn't deserve such a lengthy suspension. I am surprised he got any at all personally, but if he did I expected nothing longer than 2 games. more than 1/3 his season for a situation in which he was legally cleared of any wrong doing is harsh imo. Specially when other players "accused" of the same thing go under the radar of furer Goodell.
Ben got tried in the court of public opinion, all based on the testimony of a drunk girl, in a public place, with no other witnesses.....
The Silver lining? Ben will never put himself in that situation ever again, and people will go back to admiring and forget all about this when ol girl doesn't even file a civil suite cause her allegations are fabricated.
All those in this thread calling Ben a raper and such should be ashamed of yourselves. In THIS country people are innocent until proven guilty. There was an investigation that lacked evidence to even arrest, much less prosecute, and the medical examiner stated that he found no signs of forced entry. No evidence of forced entry means she was willing at the time of insertion.
But you guys go ahead and remain convinced based on the allegations of a gold digger. You go right ahead, but hope you remember this situation when you have a family member, or friend in one thats eerily similar.
All it takes is an accusation in this country and someones reputation is ruined, even after he was proven to have not violated any laws.
The biggest supporter that he isn't guilty is that they didn't even charge him. Doesn't require a whole lot of evidence to bring charges, and often times prosecuters do so to assist the investigation.

also I have noticed that Huck, foreign, SD.....you all really avoid the whole pattern of behavior talk.
There is a concept that most people believe in which basically dictates that nobody is that unlucky.
What if I was accused of rape and never charged criminally or civil, once
What if I was accused of rape and never charged criminally or civil, twice
What if I was accused of rape and never charged criminally or civil, three times
What if I was accused of rape and never charged criminally or civil, four times
What if I was accused of rape and never charged criminally or civil, five times
Please tell me at some point you would support my employer suspending me.
Just appreciate that many of us, pretty much really start to listen on "twice"....but in this sense, EVERYBODY has a point where they would be forced to believe I am indeed a rapist.
I also see a pattern of young drunk girls claiming rape then not being able to back up their stories. I'm not arguing his morals, just the facts. He's not a rapist, he's a guy who bangs chicks 8 years younger than him in bar bathrooms.
The second he pays a dime in a civil suit I will think differently. These girls would get some kind of money if they were right at all. Even if they had a shred of truth to their stories they'd get some kind of money. The fact that they are not only coming away empty-handed, but that one is being counter-sued tells me a lot.
I'm not defending Ben's decision making or judgment, just the fact that he's a rapist. It's not fair to call him one on pure speculation and the words of two drunk college girls.
FWIW, I read in an article--and it was unsubstantiated, might not be true--that Roethlisberger has paid this second girl an undisclosed amount to avoid a civil suit. I have to leave right now so I'll try to find the story later, but I'm pretty sure you could find it in this thread, and I think it was from SI?
Link? I haven't seen anything like that reported.
You know, I must have mis-read something, or am confusing it with something else, because I can't find it. My sincere apologies.
Link?
It's all good Hessian I appreciate the effort.

She drop the charges?
She filing a civil suit?
Yes and No I guess you're right. She's not a gold digger, just a dumb bizzy who cried rape cause she was ashamed of letting her inner slut out.....

yeah because going to trial in a very public rape case is every girls dream. geez, man for one second stop trying to defend Ben Roelthisberger and see a woman's perspective. Maybe just maybe the guy who got the underage girls drunk and had his bodyguard run interference on her friends isn't such a good guy.

This. A lot of fairly unpleasant assumptions are being made about this girl with zero evidence.

I would bet none of these dudes have Daughters. And they ain't doing their Mothers or Sisters any honor either showing how quickly they can assume the worst about the other gender.
What I know about the female persuasion is that it is just as likely that this girl was at least VERY INTIMIDATED being escorted by big bodyguards and a Huge NFL star agressively "courting" you.
That is more likely than she just happens to be a conniving, manipulative and ruthless Woman at 20 yrs old.
Either are possible sure. It just tells you a lot about a person who is more eager to believed the latter
