Is he really the reason they made the playoffs? I would think the Defense and Rivers would have something to say about that. Not getting this guy would, without a doubt, prove McC is a moron? How many years GM'ing do you have? How many SB rings have you won?

I agree, but people are a bit extreme about their hatred of McCloughan because he didn't do what they wanted. Of course he thinks Sproles is a good player, and would make the team better, but you can't get everyone you like. Not only are there 31 other teams whose GM's are then moron's every time a good player moves, but there are so many names that run through this forum that are "no-brainers," that in order for people to not hate Scott he'd need 5x as much cap-space to work with.

Just because they'd make the team better and McCloughan doesn't sign them, doesn't make him dumb, a moron, or a bad GM/personnel director.

That said, I do hope we sign Sproles.

Moron is the guy who cut's lt and let's his backup walk. Maybe there plans are to trade up for Cj spiller? Wonder what's up norv's sleeve..

Is Sproles really that big a deal as a return specialist? I mean i know decent change of pace in the running game and all that but i just dont see why we have to overpay when we have a chance at a much younger player whos an eye popper at return specialist and can be groomed to take over spots for Gore. i mean Spiller is at 190 in say three years hed bulk up to 210ish or so and play lights out with his blocking down as well.

but i havent really seen Sproles so i might be way off the mark. Whos followed this guy in SD?

What on earth makes you think he would come here to be a backup, (or that we should want him as more than that), when he wasn't willing to stay with a SB contending team as a backup and they, when losing LT weren't willing to give him even a shot at even MAYBE being the starter there?

They know him better than anyone, they need a starter, and weren't willing to pay him like one or even treat him like Bush and pay him to be around as a backup/big play threat.

Why should we? And why would he come here when he obviously wants to be a starter and didn't take some lesser deal to stay in a good situation in SD, where he would have almost automatically have had at least a shot to prove himself as a starter on a playoff team?

He wants one big payday to be "the man" a team that needs a starter. That isn't us, so we have no shot until/unless absolutely no one in the NFL gives him a job. At which point, he probably goes back to SD.

Forget this pipe dream. We have a better shot at LT than Sproles.
