Dude what the hell? I just saw this on Maiocco's Twitter and I'm kinda disappointed as I'm 100% sure Carroll only hired him to pick his brain to get the Niner's defensive schemes.

He shouldn't have been hired as a 49er coach though. You need separation for a good number of years before establishing that coaching relationship with former teammates.

What about the fact that he has a connection to Dan Quinn ? And its also possible he reached out to others he had a connection to looking to break into either the college or pro's as an assistant who put in a good word for him with Carroll.
He is not a traitor, he is a man looking to remain a part of the game in some way and I wish him nothing but the best.
