He is a big mouth and has a reputation. He is also older now and has dropped off some. But I don't think anybody could argue TO in his prime with great QB's could have put up some real rediculous #'s. He is at least partially correct although unpopular.

Here’s the difference

If TO had Joe and Steve for his entire career he still wouldn’t break Jerry’s records cause he doesn’t have the same attitude and he drops too many balls.

Think about this.

If Mr. Owens had had Montana and Young as quarterbacks, they would not have put up with his egotical self-centered personality and the mouth it produced.

If he had played his games with those guys, Ronnie Lott would have asked him to please be quiet.

Now that is a pleasant thought. A quiet Mr. Owens.
IDK Let's look at the QB's he has had.

Steve Young - Enough Said!
Jeff Garcia- Not bad at all, especially when he was with the Niners.
Donovan McNab- One of the best in the NFL even when he was there. (I don't understand the knocks)
Romo- Screw him! And screw the Cowboys!! That's all I have to say about that.

On the other hand, if TO had been on the team with Montana and Young, I don't know if we would have kept him (look at Romanouski and Hayley, both character issues and good players.) and if we did keep him we might not have had as good of teams because of his issues being a distraction.

Just my thoughts.

maybe if he didnt have stone hands, and wasnt such a douchebag and made teams want to keep him as a franchise player.

seriously, how many HOF caliber players switch teams every few years? his attitude is so poor, teams know how good he is, yet they want no part. Owens is such a joke.

TC knew what he was doing....and of course those natural T.O. haters ran with it as gospel.....

he didn't say better folks...he said Rice like

Bill Walsh said it himself.... T.O. is the most athletic WR he had ever seen. Look at the numbers T.O. has put up with the likes of inconsistent QBs like Garcia, McNabb, Romo...these QBs have been inconsistent for most of their careers and have been labeled choke artist because of it......does that make them horrible no....or not even average...but at the end of the day when it counts they have let T.O. and their teams down......Garcia, McNabb, Romo.
no way possible. he didnt catch the balls thrown to him by the other qbs. TO could have had WAY better stats if he didnt drop the ball so much.

Rice did EVERYTHING GREAT.

TO isn't great. He's very good, but not great. I don't care about all the positives you say about him, if youre a receiver, and you dont have hands like glue, then you can never be considered GREAT. its like a standard- you MUST be able to catch the ball. no exceptions.
It's really funny if you think about this. Without directly acknowledging it, he is saying that he can't be great without the support of his teammates. But If he wasn't such a douche, he may have developed a rapport with a QB that lasted many years. he played with some pretty good quarterbacks. Those quarterbacks may have been even better themselves if Owens worked with them better. Would Montana or Young be as great as they are if they had to play with miserable prima dona a-holes?
One thing people love to forget about Jerry Rice is that he wasn't simply a hard worker with a good attitude.

Rice was one the QUICKEST players to ever play the WR position. Combine this with the fact that he could get in and out of his breaks faster than anyone, and the fact that he had better body control and balance then anyone, and TO's argument falls apart.

T.O. was an incredible athlete, like the "Vernon Davis" of WR's, but he wasn't half the player Jerry Rice was.

Oh, I forgot to mention Jerry Rice had some of the best hands of all-time. T.O. and Randy Moss are a joke compared to Jerry Rice. There IS a reason neither one of them have a Super Bowl ring; because they are CLOWNS.
