CINCINNATI -- Police in northern Kentucky have arrested Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga on charges of drunken and careless driving.

Covington police spokesman Spike Jones says Maualuga hit a parking meter and two parked cars early Friday with his 2003 Pontiac. There was minor damage.

The 23-year-old was held about seven hours at the Kenton County jail before being released on his own recognizance.

The Bengals' 2009 second-round draft choice from Southern Cal started the first 15 games of his rookie season before breaking his left ankle.

Team spokesman Jack Brennan says he won't comment until the case is resolved. A message has been left for agent Gary Uberstine.
You make lots of money call an effin taxi, leave your pontiac at the club/bar, nobody is gonna steal your pontiac
dumb ass
And to think Scot McCloughan would have selected this idiot with the 43rd pick had he been available.

Not sure if that's sarcasm or not (the implication that you wouldn't want this "idiot") but Maualuga is a pretty darn good player. That being said, I like the idea of having two 1sts better

Not sarcasm this time. Any NFL player who violates the law, especially one that thinks driving under the influence is acceptable, isn't worth having around. It's why I never liked Antonio Bryant and still don't like Ahmad Brooks.

He was definitely worth a 2nd round pick and looked good before his injury.
well, this is what people were afraid of with Manuluga--his propensity for drinking.
