Cap Space isn't much of an issue right now. Not sure if you are aware but surprise retirements help that.
They look better because they have someone who can actually throw them a ball. I'm not saying VD is better than those guys, but VD with Gabbert would look better than VD with Kap.
Also, VD earned that paycheck.
+1
If nothing else, he probably helped the franchise by leaking that Kap was not the answer (at this time or going forward).
That's a positive contribution. Some A's fans remember Brian Fuentes as the hero who help oust Bob Geren.

Got a concussion. Knowing him he will probably take the rest of the year off.

Tends to happen when it's physically impossible for him to not jump to catch a ball thrown right to him.

Joe Nedney was on KNBR and was asked if he remembered any players in the locker room that the rest of the guys got sick of.
He was told he didn't have to say any names, but he said, "well, there's the guy we just shipped off to Denver" and said that Davis started believing too much into the hype.
I thought that was really interesting. Normally, names aren't dropped in those situations.

Not giving it your all and avoiding contact will make a team get sick of any player really quick.

Didn't Patrick Willis go off on Vernon for running too soft?

I'm not saying he is out there playing like a pro-bowler, or making amazing catches.
I simply gave him credit for good blocks, and hoped that he wound up getting a SB.
Somehow that post of mine ended up being translated into me thinking he is a superstar that deserves more time and that we should have paid this man lol.
C'mon webzone
Nothing wrong with that at all...I just thought it was a bit ironic as the WZ completely dismisses "blocking" in this Madden era. Glad to see you are recognizing it!
I thonk Davis has always had a reputation as a sellar blocker but unlike Vancr he also led the team in receiving yards multiple times and even led the NFL in reveiving TDs.
Sure but as a receiver he's basically Ted Ginn. Or was. Ginn is clearly the better receiver now.
