thats why i said im not gunna panic unlewjillss this "holdout" goes deep into training camp. Then we may actually have a situation worth being concerned about.

We should probably wait and cross that bridge when we get to it.

My guess is that crossing the bridge before we get to it will just make us look stupid.

Walsh's motto?

cancer?

everyone on the team--all 89 of the players on the roster today?

please.

Davis has missed voluntary workouts and three days of mandatory mini camp. Nothing more, Nothing less.

I think Davis is making a mistake. Nothing more, nothing less.

Your assertions are almost funny.

He isn't as crucial as you make it seem.

He MIGHT not be this year with the improvement in the WR corps, but he certainly has been in the past. You can't make a lot of the arguments that you personally made last year about Kap if you don't admit how important VD was and maybe still is.

I don't think I ever said he was not important. I'm just refusing to buy into the notion that we can't win a SB without VD. Of course we can!

No team has ever been crippled after losing a damn TE I don't care who it is!

Look at the Chiefs, they let Gonzo walk and didn't really care about it.

Great example..how'd that work out for them again?

Let me give you an example: Shannon Sharpe. He goes to the Ravens with an amazing Trent Dilfer at QB and wins a superbowl.

Thank you guys! Finally some common sense.
Davis still presents a real challenge for defenses and I think most people are just getting excited over really nothing at this point. Again, he's not going anywhere unless Baalke says so - on contract for two more years and the franchise tag makes three. And he darn well doesn't want to hurt his "brand" by dogging it or by simply retiring. The only way Davis isn't playing in a Niners uniform for the next two to three years is if Baalke gets an offer he can't refuse - something that is so lucrative that it's better for the team - and I don't think that's going to happen for a 30-year old tight end. The comparisons to Sharpe and Gonzo are only appropriate to a point. Davis is a different type of player. His deal is ridiculous speed for a player his size. Sharp and Gonzo were natural pass catchers. Long after Gonzo lost what speed he had, he was still going up for the ball with DB's all over him and bringing it down. Davis isn't that kind of player.

Vernon Davis, like Alex Boone, is an adult.

Davis is responsible for his holdout. Boone is responsible for his holdout.

Just not overreacting. All his talk clearly goes on my nerves. But it is still kind of a non story to me at this point. Or to put it better a typicial off season story.

since there is no proof vernon has divided the locker room or is any sort of a cancer, to lose him would be bad for the team. no offense to the ghost of bill walsh. and by the way these are not the niners of bill walsh, this is not the same era and no matter how many seances you have with bill walsh, you have no idea what he would have done with vernon. maybe he would just let it ride and see how far deep it goes into camp. and you know what i really do not care what bill walsh would have done or what the bill walsh way was. that was then, this is now (monkees era 1988)
Vernon will be there week 1 vs. DAL. Book it. Not only that he will dominate that raggedy ass Dallas defense for 6 rec 135 yds and 2 TD's
