well, now the discussion is merited since we're prob gonna have a sub-.500 division winner making the playoffs from the NFC-S, while another team with more wins (like the Cards last year) gets screwed out of the playoffs

I was saying emphatically for years that the NFL's playoff system is a laughingstock but people here care more about tradition than rewarding teams based on the radical concept of how many games they win, so I gave up even trying to reason with them.

I'm all for adjusting who gets the home game as it seems wrong that SF/SEA/PHI/DAL will likely end up having to fly to whoever wins the South, but the system seems pretty solid as is. This is a rare thing that there is one division that is such a joke, and the last time it happened, Seattle beat NO.
The way they rotate the schedule seems about as good as it can get to try and keep competitive balance.
