Jeez..what an overreaction from the crowd. You guys wouldn't pay him that much to come here? We were rumored to have offered Warner wayyy more than that (yearly).
You're right dude, Cassell is just as good as Warner.
To think some people wanted us to trade for this guy. We would be wasting 10+ million a year on a # 3(maybe #2) quarterback.
He's a #1 QB on our team and it would have only been worth a 2nd rounder. Look at his numbers. Cassel Stats The numbers were better than most QB's in the league.
Cassel with the pats had a pro bowl talent o line! Randy moss, and wes welker, cassel was given the keys to the ferrari. In kc, his car is nowhere near the sports car he was given before!
And yes I know this is football and not a circle track. I actually hope the guy well. But to say he was worth 63 million or whatever it was I can't say. I would have hoped if he came to san fran his contract would be more incentive based. Ya reach this mark ya get this and so on. He rode the pine his whole college career and even in the pros until brady went down!
I wish matt cassel luck tho! Hope he can make it in kc. They are a very young team. But ya gotta start somewhere
I'd rather give 63 mill to Cassel, who's actually proven something in this league, than 80 mill to Matt Stafford who hasn't proven jack.

Apparently so would NFL GM's too.

In my opinion I believe rookies should make no more than 5 mill a year. That's just me though.

Couldn't agree more, if not less for their first contract.

Let's see how he does without Randy Moss and the amazing out option, Wes Welker.

Free agents in the NFL are always pretty dicey. You see someone with a good history and you think that they must be a good/great player and then they never produce for their new team. The reality is that they were a product of their system. Does anyone doubt that Cassell's success was largely due to their system? You never really know how these things are going to shake out, but the smart money would be on that Cassell isn't going to earn his 63 million.

27 TD and only 7 ints.
I would be very happy if we had a passing offense put up with those numbers
