This has been a horrendous draft on paper. Of course you can't truly grade a draft for at least a couple years but as of right now... Yikes

One player for the Niners to consider picking up with their 4th rounder is Chris Herndon of Miami. He is a very smooth, fluid TE that could be explosive at the next level if his medicals hold up.

That is a nice thing to have, but trading up to get it at #44 overall when you've still got a ton of holes across your roster is worthy of questioning.
As MD noted, this is a guy who you're projecting to be on the bench a lot, but good to have if you need him. That's not great value.
Outside of a couple of guys, I don't believe that any receiver in this draft was bouncing Goodwin or Garcon as starters. If the idea is that Pettis is Garcon insurance and a future replacement for him then I get it. Throw in his abilities as a returner(#1 punt returner in NCAA history) and he will get plenty of chances to contribute as a rookie.
Agree. I do think he can take over for Garcon when Garcon calls it quits. I like his return ability because if this guy catches it in space, he can take it all the way.

Just from the edge rusher position, I get the feeling they really are satisfied with Attaochu, Pita, Cassius and Gilbert. I don't see them taking another Pita in the sixth, for example.

Point is that this draft, on paper, looks mediocre - but I think these guys all can make the team and make the team get younger (as young as it is already). Teams can get old really fast, just look at the Seadderall SeaChickens.

I normally would criticize the picks, but Lynch and Shanahan regime know what they're doing. So I'll just trust these guys.
Remember 49ers, still have pass rusher and FAs edge rusher yet to be proven.
So, My wish for the 3rd day aremore Edge rusher, DB, DL and Big WR/TE that will compete.More speed and size.
So far, the draft theme is speed and size from 49ers picks.
