"The elite traits of Southern Miss RB Ito Smith could make him steal of 2018 NFL Draft
The versatile Smith might have the most impressive jump cut in a loaded running back draft class"

Funny I was just looking to see if we had a thread around him. I've been looking at tape on draftbreakdown on guys I didn't get to watch and this kid stood out. Quick to the hole, good burst, willing blocker and good catching the ball. Smaller size but I'd definitely like to bring him in on day 3 if we didn't address the position earlier.
Ito Smith, Senior, Southern Mississippi

What he has: Smith isn't dissimilar from Wadley in his strengths and weaknesses, showing the ability to make defenders miss in space and be a reliable receiver out of the backfield. Both players are willing inside runners despite their size (Smith is 5-8, 195), but their best usage in the NFL will come in a satellite role. Smith might have the best hands of any of the backs in Mobile, and he ran a decent stable of routes at Southern Mississippi, including working from the slot at times, which should really aid him in Senior Bowl practices.

What he has to prove: There is very little power to Smith's game despite his compact frame, and he is typically brought down by first contact, even if it isn't a great form tackle. Smith is a guy that will need to test really well athletically and be able to protect, as his size and lack of every down-ability suggest he'll have to versatile at the next level. I think he has the skills to do that, and making an impact as a return man in Mobile could be a nice start to the draft process for Smith.

look forward to seeing what this kid has. I thought he definitely showed some solid pop in what I saw. It wasn't Jerome Bettis 2.0 or anything like that but not a softie just due to his size.

Could be our very own Dion Lewis.

Junior year Highlights. I love the ankle breaking crossover he has and his ability to catch the ball naturally.

"Ito Smith looks to make noise at Senior Bowl
Taylor Curet"

"Southern Mississippi running back Ito Smith's agility may lend credence to an idea that he's an outside speed runner. That's not exactly where or how he wins. His cutting ability is apparent on inside runs, and he demonstrated the subtle elusiveness on two nice between-the-tackle scampers. "

Yup agree had a good first day of pratice, for sure someone I will be keeping an eye on

"The Senior Bowl participant ran the 40 in times ranging from 4.45 to 4.54, much faster than expected. He also completed 22 reps on the bench press and touched 37.5 inches in the vertical jump.

Smith looked good in drills, especially catching the ball, and ran terrific routes. The Dallas Cowboys ran the drills. He met for several hours with both the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins yesterday. Smith has already worked out for the Tennessee Titans and is drawing a lot of interest from the Carolina Panthers."
