"Hurst was listed No. 13 in Pro Football Focus' 2018 mock draft.
That's higher than any of the 11 Wolverines selected in the 2017 draft, which included three U-M defensive linemen: Taco Charlton, Chris Wormley and Ryan Glasgow."

"Sunny, according to Todd McShay.

ESPN's NFL draft expert included the 6-foot-2, 282-pound defensive tackle No. 9 in his list of the top 32 prospects for 2018, published Thursday (subscription required).

"Despite being a backup the last two seasons, Hurst has been extremely productive," McShay writes. "He has notched 68 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and 7.5 sacks. While slightly undersized, Hurst is a quick and powerful one-gap penetrator who is highly disruptive against the run. He has a powerful upper body and disengages quickly. He projects as a future NFL starter and top-40 pick."

"ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper recently rated Hurst as the top senior defensive tackle heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. Last season in 12 games, Hurst had 32 tackles, including 11.5 for loss and 4.5 sacks.
Hurst and Michigan sophomore defensive end Rashan Gary were both named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Bednarik Award, both given to the most outstanding defensive player in college football. The two will anchor a defensive line that is replacing all its starters."

"How Michigan's Maurice Hurst went from backup DT to NFL prospect"

"Hurst, a 6-foot-2, 282-pound fifth-year defensive tackle, could have left college after last season and gone to the NFL, along with just about the entire defense."

(This one is for smoke and NC, Rashan Gary and Mo Hurst will be a force to be on the defensive line, by the end of the year, this backup "Mo Hurst" could be the nations #1 DT primed for the NFL)

Good player, but not a need in the 1st or 2nd round for us. Imo.

Also really like Payne and Nnadi at DT.
If we draft another D line I will laugh my ass all the way to the looney bin.

I can see them drafting an edge rusher but if they draft another interior lineman, 49ers fans are going to start a freaking riot.
Hursy and Gary gonna wreck s**t this year. Go Blue
Maurice Hurst: "That was crazy for them to come out and say that to us. It added a lot fuel to our fire. I mean, we're a team that already runs to the ball. But on screens we were already getting out as fast as we can. We just wanted to make a statement and I think we did a good job of doing that."

"It was everything, that's our defense. We run to the ball all the time. We're always going ot give great effort. So to say something like that is very insulting to a D-line, and for him to just call us out, I mean, hit home to us."

"Upfront, Maurice Hurst and Rashan Gary blew up the Florida pocket. Chase Winovich pressured the quarterback, too."

"ARLINGTON, Texas -- The youngest team in college football has the goods to defend against some growing pains.

Not one of the 11 defenders who started Michigan's first game in 2016 was on the field for Saturday's first snap at AT&T Stadium. The defense's only returning starter, captain Mike McCray, missed the first series, but he and the rest of the Wolverines' front seven picked up right where the Big Ten's best defense left off last year. They held No. 17 Florida to 154 total yards (only 11 on the ground) and kept the Gators' offense from scoring after an opening-drive field goal."

The 2016 Ncaa college football #1 defense replaced basically their whole defense and it looks to be better than last year... 😲

Harbaugh is doing some serious recruiting and coaching up... #GoBlue

"After an impressive start to the Michigan football season, Maurice Hurst ranks as the top defensive lineman in the draft according to ESPN's Todd McShay."

https://gbmwolverine.com/2017/10/07/michigan-football-maurice-hurst-ranks-as-top-defensive-tackle-in-nfl-draft/

He blocked a kick yesterday and I believe a sack. Michigan has the #1 total defense. Rashan Gary will be top 5 if not the #1 overall pick next year and Maurice will be top ten upcoming season. Michigan needs a Qb after Speight got reinjured but the #1 defense is carrying
this team.

DE Chase Winovich just became an NFL prospect as well..

Back to back seasons #1 overall defense..

"Maurice Hurst is probably the best player in the country regardless of position right now," PFF analyst Josh Liskiewitz told Rivals. "There's no other way to put it at this point."

Just read this article and its pretty inspiring how tough his mom is. Really sickening as to why Hurst Sr. never wanted to include himself into jrs. lift.

HURST in my opinion is THE SAFEST PICK player when it's all said and done...
One of my top 5 favorite players in the draft.

But since we don't need any more interior players, there's no point in discussing him.

Agreed, and I'm a huge Michigan fan and of Hurst. He'd be a pick that wouldn't disappoint at all but there are still plenty of holes to fill on this team and NT isn't that high on my priorities.

That said, it's a pretty ugly NT class this year from what I've seen. Not a ton to like in the projected day 3 range.
Hearing Hurst will fall to day 3.

I don't care how many 3ts we have. I'm grabbing him on day 3 if I'm GM.

Are you referring to McShay's report? I don't think he will fall that far. I think his heart condition is getting overblown a bit but hypothetically...you damn right you make that pick.

The value would be well worth the risk.
