We are definitely going have to trade up if we want a QB next year

We want a tough dude who can deliver an accurate ball, right?

On paper this is a much better qb class than this year. My few thoughts on the notable QBs:
Sam Darnold - Showed a lot of potential, is a true sophomore so he didn't have the pressure of declaring this year so he has this season to prove he is the real deal. Funky throwing motion but it works for him.
Josh Roesn - Pretty throwing mechanics, probably best pure prospect since Luck. UCLA under achieved so he is going to have some questions in terms of leadership and his ability to win.
Josh Allen - Tall QB with rocket arm. Smaller school and I can see him getting compared to Flacco. Don't know much about him but I look forward to analyzing him as time goes on.
Mason Rudolph - Smart man to stay in school because he has stuff to work on, especially his short area accuracy. He wouldve been picked higher in this years draft but it gives next years draft more selections at qb.
Luke Falk - Super accurate, but plays at an air raid offense? Not sure if he has the arm to succeed but he is very intriguing.
Lamar Jackson - Probably the most polarizing prospect in next years draft. If he is serious about being an NFL QB, he better work really hard in both the film room and on the practice field. Also needs to gain weight or he will suffer in the NFL. I'm not sure how good he will be but he could make for an excellent receiver lol.
Next years class is much more exciting, I'm sure kyle and our scouting department knows that and thats why they didn't grab one of the top qbs this year. Assuming they don't get Cousins and beathard comes out looking like our longterm backup, I see him going for Rosen or Allen.

Don't get your hopes up on Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen all declaring for the draft at the same time. Chances are all three could opt to stay in school.
I see the QB's class like this in 2018:
Luke Falk
Mason Rudolph
Mike White
Brandon Silvers
Baker Mayfield
JT Barrett

That would be depressing if we had the number 1 pick.

This is why I dont get too amped over the "Ehrmagerd....GOAT QB class!!!!" proclamations. An injury here, regression there, a few guys staying in school and BOOM....basura!"

Yeah if the 49ers have the #1 pick, somewhere along the way something went horrifically wrong.
I am expecting 5-6 wins personally.

That would be, but that's assuming Darnold, Rosen and Allen all stay in school. I'm gonna predict though that Josh Rosen and Josh Allen declare for the draft. if Rosen has a good year. I think he would be scared off by injuries again and declare for the draft while his stock should be high. Allen was on the verge of declare for the draft this year but as obvious decided to return to school. But if Allen builds on his Soph season no doubt he declares for the draft.

If we have #1 overall one or several of those guys are coming out. I'm sure they'd jump at a chance to work with Shanahan and Lynch. But I agree I don't see us getting that pick

At least one of them will declare (assuming all are healthy) Their agents will be saying, the other two didnt, you're the sure fire #1 pick! go get that money!!!!
I think around 5 wins for us as well. The question i have is, who in our best guesses will win less games than us? That may be better in its own thread, but just curious what you guys think.

I forgot to add Austin Allen, may bad.
And I think Wilton Speight of Michigan. But then again I'm not doing rankings.

Don't sleep on Linehan. He's been under the radar for awhile but if he has a good senior year he could move up fast. Dude's been playing in pro style offenses since Pee Wee football.
