No he didn't. Walsh said it was 4.59 and he wa time at quicker 40 times. Jerry also wasn't 5"8
That's my point, he runs faster than what he clocked at the combine and Rice ran a 4.7 at the combine look it up. That was the only point I was making comparing the two I know Taylor is 5'8 and Rice is 6'2 don't try and be a smart ass about it
Rice did not run faster then his combine time...... RARELY do people run faster then their combine time unless they where injured, out of shape or grossly untrained.
Rice was none of those things.
Combine time is not a direct correlation to football speed. i was blessed to play with several players that went on to the NFL. I have told the story several times, I out ran Terrell Buckley several times in the 30m, i never caught him from behind...and he ran me down twice in the open field LONG before 30m.
Track shoes reaction time, flat surface ....there are SO many things that effect 40 times that do not exist on the football field.
We lock on to the 40 time because its what we HAVE.... but it is no more accurate for judging football speed as the bench press is for judging blocking skill.
We have all watched Jerry Rice out run Dion Sanders, though theoretically there is nearly a half second between there 40 times.....
Anyone that has watched any of the 100rds of plays this guy made, watched him people at least SOME people with NFL speed.
The guy is fast enough to stand a chance to play in the NFL.
You would think year after year after year of watching 40 times be a terrible predictor of success posters would notice this.
You would think before somebody popped in this thread and said...hey guys.... 4.6 blah blah blah...they would instead say.... Did we just grab a dude who averages 10 catches a game? Regardless of system is the guy that dependable?
