Hyde has missed 14 games through three seasons, including 12-of-32 the past two years. He is now entering a contract year under a new front-office regime. It's possible the 49ers don't see Hyde's power-back skill set as a fit for new coach Kyle Shanahan's zone scheme. Hyde is also one of the NFL's least effective pass-catching backs. If Pauline's report is accurate, the 49ers could consider shopping Hyde for a middle-round pick on draft weekend.

Makes sense. The Shanahan family knows they can find a good zone scheme runner in virtually any round. Hyde's a good back but replaceable.

What, because Hyde was a zone runner in college, or because he thrived as a zone runner the last two years in SF? Orrrrrr, because he actually had more YPC on zone runs (ZONE RUNS ONLY) than Frank did in Frank's last year here?

Lazy media are lazy.

Back to the topic:

"Everything I'm hearing is it's down to Fournette or the handful of defensive players they're considering if they stay at 2." - Kevin Jones, KNBR

That said I put a lot of stock in Michael Lombardi's tweet from yesterday.

Well they have Wilkerson, Williams and richardson to play 2 positions

Would basically look like us if we draft thomas

"Jones led UTEP in rushing last season with 1,773 yards and 17 touchdowns on 229 carries in 12 games. He also added 28 receptions for 233 yards and three scores.

Jones at the NFL Combine ran a 4.56 40-yard dash and put up a similar number — 4.58 — at his Pro Day in March."

I have been a Kareem Hunt fan from the beginning but this utep kid looks pretty solid as well. Is there a thread for him?

LMAO. Totally...smokescreen b***hes. Which teams want Fournette?
"NFL's least effective pass-catching backs" might have something to do with scheme (or complete lack thereof) and the fact Kaep couldn't throw a short pass with touch to save his life.

Of course they won't. They have Jackson, Campbell, Ngukae and the 3rd pick Fowler. I know it's Coughlin but even he has his limits. They're going offense.

I think they go defense and take a RB in the second/third. If Thomas/Allen go 2&3, I think Hooker/Adams will be the pick there to nearly complete their D. I'd go hooker first, pass rusher second and a RB in the third. Maybe trade up with their third to the second and take a bruiser like Foreman.
