I love this kid. He sounds like a blue collar high character player. If the Niners dont get Garrett at #2, Willis could be a great value pick.
Name: Jordan Willis
College: Kansas State Number: 75
Height: 6-4 Weight: 255
Position: DE Pos2: OLB
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2017
40 Low: 4.57 40 Time: 4.67 40 High: 4.76
Projected Round: 3-4
10/26/16 - The threshold for climbing into Kansas State coach Bill Snyder's good graces is quite high. Take the case of running back Charles Jones, who earned an uneven grade despite gashing Texas on Saturday because of his goal-line fumble. Or quarterback Jesse Ertz, whose near-flawless first half was followed by a tough second half that drew Snyder's infamous ire. That may be why defensive end Jordan Willis has stood out so much. The senior had a pair of sacks in Saturday's 24-21 victory , giving him 22 1/2 for his career and moving him past Monty Beisel for fourth-most in school history. Willis also tied for the team lead with seven tackles, including three for a loss, and batted down a crucial pass at the line of scrimmage.
It led to a glowing review from Snyder, no qualifiers involved. "Jordan just plays so hard and he prepares exactly that way," the 77-year-old coach said. "There is not one-tenth of a second of any snap that he takes that is not the best effort that he can give. I admire him and appreciate him so very much." That's the flip-side of the high bar that Snyder sets. When you manage to achieve it, the feeling is almost otherworldly - like a player has somehow qualified for the most exclusive of clubs. Willis has managed to scratch and claw his way in over the past four years. - AP Sports

I remember noticing him when I watched Kansas State last year, I think I saw them twice.

About the same as the review, really active player seemed to be all over the place. And I didn't watch the game for Kansas St. I don't think, he kind of jumped out like you wished he was on your team or someone else's that day

Love this kid.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the OLB/DE depth in this draft. I'd like to grab one in the first or second (either Garrett or someone like Lawson/Takk/Harris) then grab one in the middle rounds as well. Lots of great options, which would allow us to go QB at the top of the draft.

If the Niners stay with the 3-4, would be happy to add this kid to our roster.

I hear yah...don't understand why he's not getting that much attention. He'd be perfect for the Leo position...not that many LB's his size can both set the edge and rush the passer consistently. I'd love to see him in crimson & gold next season.

I don't see him as a weakside 4-3 end, I see him as a strong side 4-3 DE. To use a comparison, he would be Bennett not Avril.
I have him as a late 1st round talent.

Pro Football Focus analyst Steve Palazzolo noted that Kansas State edge rusher Jordan Willis "show[ed] great burst and surprising change-of-direction" at the NFL Scouting Combine.
"Even the most [optimistic] PFF analyst looked at Willis as a guy who may struggle in certain aspects of his game," Palazzolo writes, "particularly turning the corner as a pass-rusher, but the workouts indicate it may be more scheme-based." Willis measured into the Combine at 6-foot-4, 255 pounds and went on to post one of the best all-around performances of any player in Indianapolis. Among his impressive test results, a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, a 39-inch vertical leap and a 6.85-second time in the three-cone drill.
I had the same feeling about him, his combine was really good performance for him

If he is there at 34 we need to take him. No if ands or buts.

I'd still take Takkarist McKinley ahead of him. Obi Meliofonwu would be interesting and is someone they mentioned could play corner for a team like the Seahawks or 49ers who use single high safeties. Fabian Moreau and Kevin King could be interesting options around then too - some corners will drop due to how much talent there is at the position in this draft.

NFL Media draft analyst Bucky Brooks relays that Kansas State edge rusher Jordan Willis "shocked scouts" with his workout at the NFL Scouting Combine.
"He plays hard on tape and makes a few splash plays, but I didn't see an explosive athlete [heading into the Combine]," an AFC national scout told Brooks. "I'm going to need to check out the tape again to see if I missed something when I checked him out during the fall." The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder rocked a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, a 39-inch vertical leap and a 6.85-second mark in the three-cone drill during his fantastic weekend in Indianapolis. This is all great work, but Brooks still has his questions, writing that he views Willis "as a developmental prospect capable of growing into a spot-starter role at the next level." Day 2 isn't out of the question for Willis, but Brooks would assign him a Day 3 grade based on what he has seen on film.

I thought the 3rd round he would start looking pretty good

He's plenty fast enough to play in a 4-3 at LB. Whether he has the instincts for it is the question.

His 40 time is a typo obviously. It's 4.53..still pretty damn impressive.

Athletically at the combine he was graded out to be #2 amongst defensive ends just behind Garrett but he gets a lot heat for his technique.
