What's wrong with the QB position at college level?

I'm pretty concerned about the level(or the lack of there of) of the QBs at college level.
The choice of starting QBs in college is growing more and more related to athletic ability and not passing ability, grooming players without a minimum conditions to play in NFL.
Guys like Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts or even Watson seemed to be the regular choice over guys like Blake Barnett, Kyle Allen.

This hurts NFL pretty bad in my opinion
Maybe it's time for the NFL to stop using the college game as its minor leagues.

Darnold looks promising from USC
Can't read defenses post snap
It's just the evolution of the game, everyone is getting more athletic. Even Luck, someone considered more of a pocket passer, has incredible athleticism. While the NFL is trending on athlete qbs right now, it will always be home to the pocket passers.

This times a million. The spread O is ruining it, not a good O to develop a QB to transition to the next level
CFB has become a cash cow, so coaches are under pressure to win now. Under those constraints, it's easier to get instant results from those non-pro offenses.

I'm curious if the issue is really with college defensive backs.

Lower quality secondaries allow lazy spread QB's to thrive. Maybe if the quality of DB's improved (or they relaxed the PI rules just slightly) air raid offenses wouldn't be so dominant and QB's might have to learn to read defenses a bit better.

The problem is that the pure athletic QBs(Newton, RGIII, Taylor) are failing all over NFL.
Teams can't win with athletic QBs with rudimentary passing skills and no mental skills.

And College football are prefering these QBs to the pure passing QB, crippling the choice of NFL teams

Too many teams in FBS probably?

College coaches are paid to win, they aren't paid to develop QBs for the NFL. Since a pro style offense is harder to learn and harder to find a successful candidate to run, they are few and far between. Gimmick offenses that won't work on the next level that rely on superior athletes are the common place. Colleges don't give their QBs 3 years to develop and don't care about a kid's future potential. They want the best player at the position today.
I guess English is right.

NFL might need to make an agreement with a minor League to develop players
