With Goff still available at 7, they shock the world and go with Connor Cook with the 7th pick.

Baalke may not even draft a RB...but if he does it most likely wouldn't be Henry. Yeah, he's a beast and all, but he doesn't seem to be the kind of all-around RB Kelly's looking for. For his offense, Procise would probably be the guy. Buckner makes the most sense...sorry, dude. Ian Williams' future is cloudy, which likely means Dial mans NT 'til Williams is really ready to play. Kelly would love to have two of his Oregon guys bookending his DL.

-Hyde looks to be a nice RB but can he stay healthy?
-DeJuan Harris and Shaun Draughn played well in Hydes absense but lets get real here, neither guy is a legit bell cow and neither guy scares anyone.
I think the key to the draft is adding a player the opposing team needs to game plan for. Adding someone who defensive or offensive coordinators have to change the way they call plays is a huge advantage.
Look at Todd Gurley for example. He changed the way teams call plays against St.louis as a rookie. There are very few backs in the league that have this effect and I don't see any other player that will be available at 7 who will scare other teams that much that they change the way they call a game.
Add in the fact that Kellys uptempo system almost demands that we have two capable backs taking a guy like Elliot probably isn't out of the question.
We saw in our run from 2011 the effect a dominant run game has. It wears down a defense. It mentally drains a team knowing what another team is going to do and knowing you cannot stop it. It keeps our D on the sidelines. It closes out close ball games.
Im an old school football fan. Fancy passing stats are nice but rarely do they win championships. Teams with top Defense and running games are the teams that are always in it at the end.
One of the first things Kelly did when he was incharge of the Eagles was spend big money on 2- #1 backs. I could see the same thing happening here with us.
Hyde is a decent back but he isn't in the class of Zeke Elliot. Ellliot is one of the true 3 down backs in the league. He has the ability to be a 1500 yard back and catch 50 balls. Plus, his ability to defend the QB is a huge bonus. He truly looks like Edge James and there aren't many guys that have come into the league with his ability.
A duo of Elliot and Hyde would be dominant and could change the culture of this team immediatly.
their not drafting a RB to split carries at 7...this draft has tons of good RBs with great value in the mid rounds.

A pass rusher with a higher motor than almost anyone in the draft and a talented QB prospect with a lot of upside that Kelly could develop from the ground up basically....they could do worse.
Baalke watched Lawson workout twice, even skipped the NDSU Pro Day for one, while Kelly sent Dana Bible to watch Lynch workout. Both of those make me think that these two guys are high up on the 49ers draft board.
Yeah, I can definitely see there being an outside chance of Lawson being the pick. As for Lynch I'm not crazy about him being picked, but if we were to take him hopefully we trade down.

A shocker for me would be any QB not named Goff/Wentz or a guy like Reggie Ragland.

My shocker would be Baalke passing on Jack citing concerns about his knee. Zone would meltdown.

No pick in the first round.
A trade back with the Titans for #15 and one of their #2's. They move up for Stanley.
A trade back with the with the Bills to #19 and their 3rd. They move up for D. Lee.
A trade back with the Broncos for #31 and their 3rd. They move up for P. Lynch.
Trade #31 to the Jets for M. Wilkerson.
Baalke cuddles with his 14 remaining draft picks as he sleeps happily dreaming about all the trade backs he can accomplish with 5 picks on day 2.

I think we end up getting Shaq Lawson. If we have no trade partners to trade down with, its not too much of a reach and his potential is just as good as the top 7.
