2015 offensive draft
4th round pick 118 Blake Bell TE QB turned TE didn't show any flashes of becoming anything more than a decent backup in a few years.
4th round pick 126 Mike Davis RB some inside the organization think he's a bust didn't show that he would ever be a decent pro RB.
4th Round pick 132 D. Smelter WR caught 56 passes over 2 seasons. This does not shout all pro to me and coming off an acl. You have to wonder if Balke liked him for his stats or his torn ACL more.
His last 3 picks were Silberman, Brown OG and Anderson TE. Out of the 3 we might have a career backup in Brown the other 2 will be released. We may not have a eventual starter in this group let alone a probowler.
2015 offensive draft is a bust
2014 offensive draft
Round 2 pick Hyde RB. Looks average so far and gets injured a lot. Looks like he could be a quality COstarter for a few years.
Round 3 Marcus Martin C. Struggled wherever we put him in the lineup and didn't show improvement from his first year to the next.
Round 3 Brandon Thomas OG 2 seasons 0 snaps I rest my case.
Round 4 we were expecting him to be fast and dynamic in the mold of Emmanual Sanders and Antonio Brown when they were drafted.mhes show none of that. Not a very good WR or returner.
2013 offensive draft
Round 2 Vance McDonald TE hands of stone we passed on probowler TEs to take him all he can do is block.
Round 4 Q. Patton WR draws more flags that big plays. Below average WR that we need to upgrade.
Round 4 Marcus Latimore RB wasted pick and effort.
No one wants to revisit the 2012 draft.
What does this mean for us, if Balke comes out hitting offensive players in the Draft we are screwed. Balke has proven if the draft is loaded at WR like it has the last 2 years we won't take one til late and he won't be very good. We either need to use all of our picks on defense and address the offense in free agency or let Kelly pick his own offensive players. Balke thinks Connor Cook is the best QB in the draft. We are screwed if he try's to make over our offense. He's drafted no probowler offensive players since 2011.
Best plan would be to let Kelly identify which WRs and Olinemen he likes then just let Balke Draft like 8 straight defensive players.

Trent is an old defensive player scout. This year, just resist his urge to "be too cute" and pick the BPA that comes our way. My guess is that we have to throw a bone to Chip and he'll have some say. For the sake of god, I hope that Trent and Chip are on the same page.
Chip will want Goff or Wentz, Baalke will probably want to overdraft somebody like Shaq Lawson at #7. Hope Trent sees the light this year.
This team NEEDS an identity at QB....a new face for the franchise if you will...somebody to sell jerseys and fill the seats. Praying for Goff. Don't screw this up Baalke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping that he passes on his ACL Player of the Year choice.

LOL ok, maybe Shaq Lawson was a bad example of over drafting because he's rated in the 7-12 range but I'm sure there are others that Trent would overdraft in a New York Minute...

It's his last year to prove himself, or at least it better be.

Hard to say. It's not like the York's demand excellence.

He's already f**ked up in FA, if he also f**ks up the draft, he needs to go. If he's not fired, it's pretty obvious that he has pictures of Jed making out with a tranny.

Looks like a solid unbiased analysis. I don't see why more people don't judge a draft class after year one.
My favorites were that Hyde is just average and Smealter only caught 56 balls in college. Spot on bro. Spot on.

Interesting assessment of Brown. Not! After reading that Hyde gets injured quite a lot I gave up reading it.

Jed and Trent are by far the worst gm owner combo. Jed is sooooooo cheap and has no idea what he's doing. His billionaire mum just gave him the job of president out of pity and to get the midget out of the house. Trent has his stupid analytic rules on the length of peoples arms for their draft grade. Its a hard time to be 49er fan with these two losers running the franchise.

I think Hyde is an above average RB, and there are some guys I am still keeping an open mind about (Bell, Davis, Anderson). But other than that, I think the OP is pretty accurate.
Even if you are still optimistic about some of these guys and like a few of them, it's still pretty clear that our drafting of offensive players has been bad. Our offensive talent is way below league average, and that's what happens you whiff on draft after draft.

The whole front office is an issue. They don't know what players are looking for. They have very little player support. They hired a coach known to alienate his players. If you think we are going to get any FA of value you missing the big picture. So we rebuilding completely. If he can't draft em we won't get em,

Let's revisit this post after a year with a good offensive minded coach.
