A look at the Guards that are still available that may be decent priced.
Brooks OG Houston
Sweezy OG Seattle Taking a Guard from the best team in our division is a win-win for us.
Jeff Allen OG KC he was in the coaches doghouse and didn't play until the 2nd half of the season and played well. That decision should hold down his value into Balke range.
Alex Boome OG should be an option for us from reading about him I think his dream contract is not going to happen. I think it's a possibility we get him back on a 3 year /10 mil contract. That's a good deal in my opinion and we then don't have to look for a player capable of swinging through multiple positions.
Taking a older Guard like Jahri Evans or Evan Mathis to hold the spot for 2 or 3 seasons until we can develop Martin or Thomas should also be considered.
I see us signing Sweezy and Boone for our guard positions and having Staley and Davis handle our tackle spots.
Sean Smith is an option for us a CB however we are building to compete in 2 or 3 years. I see us going younger with a guy that could step his game up.
My top choices are Casey Hayward CB down year in 2015 but looked like a up and coming player in 2015 a 3 or 4 year contract at 4 to 5 million would fit. Another corner I think we should look at is Brandon Boykin. He stepped up his game as the season progressed.
So in free agency we will sign Sweezy or Allen and Alex Boone back at a reasonable price.
We will also sign Casey Hayward. The last position is TE. McDonald is mainly a blocker and Celek is unproven. A coby Fleener while One dimensional can step in and be our leading pass catcher right away.
We will not have to worry about losing comp picks because we will not lose any free agents except for Bolden in which we might have received one. We should be looking to trade one of our 6th round picks to KC for DeAnthony Thomas which gives us our returner and a change of pace backs.
5 free agent signings
OG Boone, Sneezy looks like Boone is going to Minnesota so we concentrate on Jahri Evans,
CB Hayward
TE Fleener
None of these players should break the back and I'm estimating after draft picks we will have 30-35 million to roll over to next season where the players are deeper.
Trades Kapernick to Cleveland for pick 32.
1st Round pick 7 Deforrest Buckner DE deep draft for Dline means you take them Early and often. B
2nd round pick 32 Shaq Lawson DE I think we play him at a hybrid De/OLB position and strengthen or Dline rotation.
2nd round pick 37 Jaylon Smith ILB this is a player worth taking a redshirt year on.
3rd round pick 68 Kamalei Correa OLB one of my favorite sleeper picks. Takes Brooks spot on the roster and competes to Harold for the job.
4th round pick 102 Cardale Jones QB should be better pro than college QB
4th round comp Yannick Ngakoue OLB pushes Lemonier off the roster.
5th round pick 142 Alex Collins RB
5th round pick 145 Robert Aguayo K
5th round comp Tyler Johnstone OT another Kelly guy to help in the locker room
6th round pick 181 Jalin Marshall KR
6th round pick 183 traded to Phili for Ryan Matthews RB good enough for 10-15 carries a game and starting when Hyde is hurt
6th round pick 210 traded to KC for DeAnthony Thomas
6th round comp AJ Zuttah DE
6th round comp Taylor Fallin Oat
