I just strongly disagree Wentz is a reach at 7.

It's a very weak QB class. Compared with the 2 OTs and all the superlative defensive players at the top of the draft, any of those QBs (yes, including Goff and Wentz) are at least mild reaches at 7. 12-17 would be about the right range for Goff and Wentz, and no earlier than the top of the 2nd for Lynch.
QB is such an important position that teams who reach out of desperation usually regret it.
Disagree with this. Wentz and Goff are elite QB's regardless of how the rest of the class looks. They may not be at quite the level Winston and Mariota were at, but they're not far off. Blake Bortles is a very fair comparison for Wentz, but he's even bigger and more athletic with better footwork in my opinion. Goff is similar to Matt Ryan but with smaller hands. The only real knocks on him are hand size and his weight, but 215 isn't terrible (Cook is 6'4 217 and no one says anything about his weight).

Neither of them would start over Gabbert right now . In comparison, both Winston and Mariota would if they were coming out this year, IMO

This. Just because the QB class goes off a cliff after the 4th or 5th QB doesn't mean there aren't some pretty good prospects at the top.

I think both guys need time to develop some more but you draft a QB for the long-term, not one year. Give them a year to develop, you've still got a pretty talented QB prospect under contract at an affordable salary for 4 more years.

I think Gabbert will be fine in Chip's offense. He is not nearly as bad as people make him out to be and is more athletic than both Goff and Wentz. Taking Goff or Wentz with other top defensive prospects available is not worth it to me. Broncos showed how you can EASILY win a SB without a QB. This is the year to rebuild that defense

How many times do teams win SB's with so-so or mediocre QBs and how many times do they win it with pretty good ones. Denver is an outlier.
I think in a passing league, above all else, you need a QB. Baalke has shown that he can find defensive talent later on in the draft. You can find OL's in FA. You really can't find a QB in FA and the later in the draft you take a QB, the lower the odds are that they will work out.
If they are convinced that one of these guys IS a franchise QB, there is no position more important.

4. Stanley
5. Tunsil
6. Ramsey
7. J. Smith
No qb is worth it. Take lynch later.
Yes, smith. We aren't going anywhere this year anyways. Assuming he comes back next year, it's like having an extra first round pick.

Smith won't wind up anywhere near the 1st round. If his nerve damage is bad, we're talking potentially as long as two years for recovery and possibly never. You don't risk a 1st round pick on that.

Seahawks won with Defense. Patriots definitely put points up but to act as if that effort wouldn't have gone to waste without that defensive play is ridiculous. Broncos won with defense as well.
We have also seen the Giants pass rush destroy the best QB and offense in the game...twice.
I agree that it's a passing league which tells me if your pass rush is dangerous, you will have just as much of shot to win it as you will with a top QB.
When has Baalke found us a pass rush? That is what we need and have needed for years but all we had were the Smiths...I'll take Buckner and Spence over either QB

I understand the logic, my theory is desperate times/desperate measures. When/if healthy, this guy could be a hofer. What the hell do we have to lose. Lol

Our first round pick in exchange for nothing potentially. I'm completely fine with drafting Jaylon Smith in the 3rd/4th round even if he's out for a year or up to 2 years. This team is going nowhere for a couple years anyways.

Uh, an early 1st rounder on a guy who may never ever play for you. You think dropping a late 4th on Lattimore was bad? If he doesn't get a better prognosis at his next medical exam, Smith could be on the board until the third day of the draft.
