In order, who are the top 7 guys you hope the niners pick in the first round. Here's mine:
1. Goff
2. Ramsey
3. Jack
4. Bosa
5. Buckner
6. Wentz
7. Stanley
Not bad. The niners are guaranteed to have the option to get one of these guys. Tunsil will likely get picked before us too, pushing another one of these 7 down to us.

I don't think Goff will be there, Wentz to me is a reach at 7, Stanley might make sense, but Staley isn't going any where for a while, and we have Davis coming back and Brown showing promise, thus don't really need a OT early. To me it's Buckner or Jack. Personally I'd take Buckner, because of the familiarity of this regime, and the fact that him and Armstead as the ends should each demand a lot of attention from o-lineman especially if we bring back Williams in the middle. Jack would be nice, but Buckner to me makes more sense for now and going forward.

But you gotta gimme your 7. What if Jack and Buckner are gone? If you share your top 7, one of them will have to be on the board when we pick.

People have different preferences. I like Wentz but not at #7, 2nd round to me.

1. Buckner
2. Wentz
3. Goff
4. Tunsil (if he somehow makes it to 7, it would be stupid not to take him regardless of whether OT is a need)
5. Ramsey (may be the best defensive player in the draft - really good length for corner or free safety and an elite athlete)
6. Jack
7. Bosa
8. Noah Spence
Stanley's feet weren't that impressive. He's not the athlete Tunsil or Spriggs are. Ramsey and Tunsil are on here because they'd each be the BPA by far at 7 even though OT and CB/FS are not really needs.
Hopefully one of the QB's makes it there to 7. Buckner probably won't and Tunsil definitely won't. Bosa should be the pick if the other 6 guys are gone. Wentz and Goff were both impressive throwing at the combine, Tunsil stood out among the OL, Ramsey will have elite measurables, and Jack came in at 245 with long arms which is a huge plus.
Goff is a better QB right now than Wentz, but I'd rather sit Wentz out a year while we rebuild than sit Goff out a year or play him right away. For a rebuilding team that doesn't need a QB to play right away, I think Wentz is the better bet because of his long term potential. His footwork were awesome today and he has prototypical size and athleticism.

It's a very weak QB class. Compared with the 2 OTs and all the superlative defensive players at the top of the draft, any of those QBs (yes, including Goff and Wentz) are at least mild reaches at 7. 12-17 would be about the right range for Goff and Wentz, and no earlier than the top of the 2nd for Lynch.
QB is such an important position that teams who reach out of desperation usually regret it.
