A NT getting $8 million a year??

Cody Kessler? Matt Barkley, Mitch Mustain, Aaron Crap, John David Booty, Marc Sanchez, Matt Leinart, Rob Johnson, Todd Marinovich, Sean Salisbury, those that don't learn from history will repeat it.

Ask the Bucs how Jameis Winston is doing and then go look at FSU's record of producing top QBs. Plus prior to Aaron Rodgers wasn't Cal known for the same?
Plus Kessler is a mid round pick so who cares.

Of the guys you mentioned, Chip brought in two of them to play in Philly. I think he likes PAC-12 QBs. There's some familiarization there. You could argue that history shows Chip likes USC QBs.
Personally, I think Chip wants a mobile QB. He liked the way defenses approached Vick under center. He can exploit the middle of a defense when teams leave an ILB to spy the QB. It leaves a hole behind in the middle of the field behind the shallow LB. he kept talking about in an old film breakdown session he did in Philly. He used to go on the local show and talk plays each week. The videos are on YouTube and pretty entertaining to hear him talk about exploiting matchups.

I really like this draft
But I don't know about Bruce Irvin , I'm sure he'd help our defense improve, but I'd rather try and acquire a pure 3-4 OLB , if we were running a 4-3 defense , Irvin would be a solid pick up for sure, and I'm also a big Myles Jack fan, but personally I'd rather spend the money on Trevathan to pair with Bowman , and draft the best 3-4 OLB available ...but if Tunsil is still sitting there at #7 , we gotta grab him ....but otherwise, I really like this draft man

I'd love to get Smith, but I think he'll cost $10M thanks to Byron Maxwell. Chip can accept that blame as well. Claiborne is a promising CB that struggled early. He's a former early pick that has to appeal to Trent. His big problem is staying healthy. He was off to a good start last season, but couldn't stay on the field.

I think an Irvin/Jack duo far exceeds a Trevathan/Spence combo, but that's just me. Trevathan and Marshall are good players, but they're going to be vastly overpaid coming off the SB high. They were nice compliments, not instrumental guys.

I disagree on that I love Jack and would be pumped to get him but Danny T is a fine player and spence would be a building block and plays a much more important position.
I'd rather give Danny T a 5 year $40 million year deal than give Bruce a 5 year $55 million dollar deal plus we'd get spence for cheap for 5 years

Harder to find a great pass rusher? Or a great Inside linebacker?

In this draft, I think it's harder to fine a great 3-4 OLB vs a great ILB.

I think Bruce Irvin is a double digit sack guy in the 3-4.
In this draft, you have better ILBs and DEs. Pass rushers are harder to come by. Spence is up there, but he's risky. I love Floyd too, but it's hard to justify him that early.

Irvin's publicly said he'll take less to stay in Seattle...if true, then Baalke should spend FA money on DE Malik Jackson. Other options include Olivier Vernon and Atlanta's Claiborn. I get re-signing Williams, but the DL can't stand pat. Baalke needs to bring in at least one FA. Adding pass rushers sounds great, until you realize our front 3 isn't exactly stellar. Armstead seems to have what it takes...but one of my criticisms of Tomsula was he didn't play him enough in 2015. So, he's still pretty inexperienced. Dial isn't a starter, IMHO. Solid b/u, yes, but not a starter. Jackson's just entering his prime...and can provide some veteran leadership among the DE's who end up on the roster, not to mention display his terrific and growing skillset. Denver will have to commit a ton of money to keep Von Miller, which I fully expect them to do. They've already committed money to Derek Wolfe, I doubt they can keep Jackson, too. I don't get signing CB Clairborne for 1 year...if Baalke wants to add another vet to the secondary, there are some better options out there, like Trumaine Johnson, Casey Heyward or Brandon Boykin. Also not sure about Blount...he seems to be sliding downhill. Better options there would include Lamar Miller (25), Bilal Powell (27) & James Startks (30). What all three have in common are good running ability but more importantly, all are excellent receivers out of the backfield. That would seem to play into Kelly's offense considerably more than Blount. Given Torrey Smith is the longest tenured vet (unless Boldin returns), I'd think Baalke (and Kelly) would want another vet receiver. Marvin Jones would be a great addition. Other options would include Travis Benjamin, Rishard Matthews. Even if Smelter produces, Kelly would have few proven WR's. I doubt he'll want to go into next season like that.
I'm not sure about Kessler...yes, he's intelligent, goes through his progressions, but I'd think Kelly might be more enamored with Prescott or another more athletic QB. I love you took Jack and Jones with the first two picks. Strengthening the front 7 (especially the front 3) will put more pressure on opposing offenses and help our own offense to get back on the field. I'd also like to see a legit KR on the roster...I love the small guy from Texas Tech, Jakeem Grant. He can really run and is a tough kid. As things stand now, we don't have any KR who scares other teams...and Baalke needs to fix that.

I agree with most of what you said. Malik isn't going to be cheap. He's rumored to be looking for $15M annually. He's one of the top young DEs in the league and would definitely help the front 7, but this is a great draft for the position.
As for free agents at RB and WR, there are certainly other options. Trent and Chip both have ties to Blount and he'd add a physical aspect to the offense. The WRs you mentioned are all going to be overpaid. Watching the inconsistent play of the WRs in Philly I'm convinced Chip can make it work.
I like Grant as well. I'm really hoping Chip trades for Sproles. He's buried in the depth chart and has one year left on his deal. He's well worth one of those 6th rounders., IMO. I originally had him in this mock, but deleted it.
