Parameters:
- Rarely shell out big dough on FA signings, but make it count when you do (i.e. Justin Smith)
- Win at the trenches
- Hunt for bargains via cap casualties
- Re-prioritize scheme fit ability in FA/Draft selections (no more LaMichael James in Power O or Tank Carradine stretch conversions type picks)
Resign: Andrew Tiller, Phil Dawson, Anthony Davis (un-retires)
Cut: Ahmad Brooks, Erik Pears, Glenn Dorsey (injury settlement)
Trades:
Colin Kaepernick and 6th (via DAL) round pick for Texans 4th round pick. They are desperate for a QB and Kap has skills that they've never had in Houston. I think he could be a great fit, and it's a nice change of scenery. This is a big splash move they need to make.
Antonie Bethea for Kiko Alonzo - ILB - Eagles. Eagles need safety help, and we need to shore up our ILB talent next to Bowman.
Tank Carradine for Gavin Escobar - TE - Cowboys. Cowboys need 4-3 DE depth with Hardy not expected to come back. We need depth at TE.
Free Agent Signings:
Malik Jackson - DT/DE - Broncos: Highly productive in Denver, Jackson is a Cali guy that beefs up our D-line immensely with Smith and McDonald's departure from the team. Dial and Purcell provide depth at NT and DE.
Trumaine Johnson - CB - Rams: With Ward moving to S, we need to bolster our talent at CB. Johnson is the #2 or #3 best CB on the open market, and we over pay to get him. Stockton native.
Sam Bradford - QB - Eagles: He won't get $20M a year, but he'll get a 1 year, prove it deal with a chance to start. Kap wants out and he lacks respect in the locker room. Let Gabbert and Bradford duke it out. Bradford has expressed wanting to be in the same scheme for another year.
Cap Casualty Signings:
Mike Wallace - WR - Vikings: He can be a super productive player in Kelly's scheme with great speed and route running skills. Pair him with Smith and you will stretch the field 2x more than ever before.
Jahri Evans - OG - Saints: I see this as a Jonathan Goodwin type signing. Vet leadership on our offense that still has talent left in the tank. Starts at RG and mentors Tiller for 1-2 years.
Quinton Coples - DE/LB - Dolphins: Former 1st round pick, Coples will be our pass rushing specialist and he's proven to get to the QB during his time with the Jets. Replaces Carradine. Baalke loves these types of signings.
NFL Draft:
R1: Noah Spence - DE/LB - Eastern Kentucky: Aldon Smith 2.0? I think Baalke is drooling at the potential with Spence starting opposite of Lynch.
49ers trade 2nd, 4th, and 6th round (via DEN) picks for Chiefs 1st round pick
R1: Vernon Butler - NT/DE - LA Tech (via KC): Immediate 3-4 NT starter in two gap system that can contribute on passing downs as well.
R3: Kyle Murphy - OT/OG - Stanford: I really like him as our future LG but the ability to slide to LT if Staley gets injured. Polished player.
R4: Vernon Adams Jr - QB - Oregon (via HOU): Good Kelly scheme fit. I see him as a security blanket for Bradford and a nice backup and depth.
R4: Jordan Payton - WR - UCLA (comp): Projects nicely as a slot receiver in the NFL as he's thickly built with strong hands.
R5: Tyler Ervin - RB/KR - SJSU (via SD): Ervin could be Sporles 2.0 in Kelly's offense. Speedster that adds a new element to the backfield.
R5: James Bradberry - CB/FS - Samford: Good dimensions but struggled against better competition. I see him as a backup FS in the NFL.
R5: Travis Feeney - LB - Washington (comp): Former safety turned LB, I see Feeney as a good backup/special teams ace at ILB on our team. He can flex to play OLB if needed.
R6: Ty Darlington - C - Okalhoma (comp): Smart player that adds depth to our O-line.
R6: Nick Kelly - C - Arizona St (comp): Competes with Darlington and M. Martin for depth at the position.

Well thought out, I particularly like the Escobar trade. He had no one to throw to him last year and Witten gets most of the action when Romo is healthy. Big and strong, could take over the #1 TE position.

Nice Job. I don't like some of the moves made but I could definitely live with it.

Good but Bradford I think is unrealistic especially with the amount of money he will get.

It's the Eagles, Texans, and Rams that are QB hungry and pick later in the draft. If Kap is traded to the Texans, then it's just the Eagles and Rams. And there's no way he's going back to the Rams. And the Eagles are rumored to want Foles again.
If Bradford gets a huge contract, then it's stupid money. It's a cap sunk, and I think teams will be wary of a contract to a QB like that. And with him wanting to be in Kelly's scheme, I think it's realistic.

Everything but Bradford sounds like good potential.

Injured pick special for Baalke. He might go Jaylon Smith somewhere in the draft

Bradford doesn't really fit Kelly's scheme. he lacks the threat of running which is essential to his R/O scheme.

No to Bradford,Don`t really need to draft any WRs or DBs,need to see what Busta A can do with a full off season and TC under His belt,He looks to be a Good TE with speed, the Kiko trade is interesting,But we have some WR`s who need to be looked at already on the Team and our DB`s played pretty good WHEN put in the right position, like the first 4 picks and M Jack FA signing,I think we need to really take a Hard look at Dujuan Harris and Druaghn,I really likewhat I saw in them,Not a BIG fan of drafting a RB and Davis has done nothing to impress me,He looks SLow,like He`s stuck in Mud or concrete.

Really like the FA and draft moves.
Good logic in regards to Bradford.
He had his best season ever last year.
BUT he was still injured for part of the season.
Hi lack of durability is a MAJOR concern.

Kelly said it's not a Read Option scheme, it's a Zone read but I agree, no thanks on Bradford. Would rather keep Kap, let Kelly see if can get him playing well again than to trade him and a 6th for an undersized project QB and a WR that won't see the field very much.
Where is Ian Williams? Butler looks more of a DE in a 3-4 than a NT

That is the only part i hated. Escobar sucks. Just a big guy. We have enough average TEs. We need Tank. He hasnt done much yet but i am holding out that him losing weight and moving to OLB or situational pass rusher will benefit this defense. We need depth at the position since they will be on the field alot

Good work. I'd pass on Coples and Bradford. And the Bethea and Tank trades seem far fetched. I don't think Butler will get out of the 1st round thought. Love him and Spence at 1 and 2.

Antonie Bethea for Kiko Alonzo
