Lots of good CB's in this draft, I just don't see Baalke prioritizing them over front seven help.

DE or DT - since we drafted AA last year I don't know after bosa if they will want Buckner or anyone else that high. Buckner to me is similar to AA. not many tackles or sacks but a good player.
Safety - same as above. Too many high picks invested recently and not a huge need
Qb - we have 2 one of which that will start in chips offense. Even if Geoff slips to 7 I don't see Jed or Trent wanting to deal with another qb controversy or fans b***hing if and when we are going to see the new qb if we draft him.
TE- no value here
Rb - we have Hyde and will draft one later in the draft like always
Wr - if tredwell slips to 7 I hope we draft him. We havent had a dominant wr since Owens and he could be it. However I think Baalke may be gunshy drafting wrs even though his yearly 4th round pick shouldn't be completely his fault for a 4th not being good or great. Crabtree was a solid wr so Baalke only missed with aj but that was what the 31st pick? Not a lot of talent there much like the Rams drafting Brian quick. In the end I think Baalke will rely on chip Kelly to improve the offense without investing in a wr with the first pick
So that leaves Baalke to draft a Tackle, ilb, olb or possibly CB.
With Anthony Davis returning and us having Staley and brown I think the need for a tackle isn't as great as many think even if there's the bpa at 7. Center and guard is too high to pick.
I feel we may take the best CB available or miles Jack if nobody selects a CB I feel this may be the pick even though we know Baalke love pass rushers. However, don't know if Baalke wants to draft a player that was injured?
What's your best guess for position or specific player?
Pretty much agree. Partly I think it depends on who slips and where he sees the value. But D line seems very likely, or an OLB pass rusher. Defensive backfield less likely IMO, it isn't generally in a bad shape and if the D line and pass rush are working well they won't have to stay on their receivers that long. ILB maybe, and I think we should be filling the O line needs out of FA.
So it largely depends on if someone drops and whether they feel they need a 1st round QB. If I had to guess I would go DE.
I see Baalke taking Buckner at #7 if he's there, but I think he's off the board by then. Myles Jack would then be the choice.

I think the need for OLB pass rush is going to strongly influence this off season. The rookie OLB depth looks a little thin, and pass rush FA will get top dollar.
Oline is a top priority but I think that will be easier to address in FA. If Baalke identifies a legit 10+ sack candidate in the draft, that has to be considered.

I would love to see them draft for depth on defense.... With all this talk about how much time the defence will be on the field, would help to rotate as many good players as possible. If chip is as good on offence as they say, balke better get the defence stacked and make chip do without. Maybe this can work..

Vernon Hargraves
Caleb Ramsey
Reggie Ragland
A'Shawn Robinson
I hope we Go with Ragland, we might have to trade back, but IMO he's the best LB in the draft.

Buckner needs to get coached up on staying low. To many times I see this guy get dragged for additional yardage.

Baalke pulls a surprise and take the receiver he has been eyeing...Ernest Calhoun. He fits the prototypical height and size that Baalke looks for:

There are good arguments for Buckner, Jack, etc...but I think it's more important to beef up the front 3 first...because if you don't it won't matter nearly as much who you pick to play behind them. The strength of the Niner defense was it's front 3 not long ago...but, it's all changed now. I think Armstead should probably start in 2016, but the others need upgrading. Ian Williams is a good player, but I don't see him as ever being dominant. Between Dial, Carradine and the rest, nobody really stands out. It's possible Baalke can bring in a vet, maybe two to upgrade. Even if he does, the guy I'd love to see him grab early is A'Shawn Robinson. Dude is big, strong, quick and can play both NT and DE. We've got to get back to a dominant front 3, and now's the time to do it.

Yup that's what I'm thinking I'd rather have Jack before Buckner tho

I'm hoping for Buckner though. I think Buckner eating up blockers makes the DL and the LB's that are team right now better. Jack just improves the LB position.
