Notable Players Cut/Not Re-Signed
Ahmad Brooks, Antoine Bethea, Glenn Dorsey, Alex Boone, Eric Pears,
Players Re-Signed
Ian Williams NT - 4 year deal, Phil Dawson K 2 year deal, Garrett Celek TE 3 year deal, Anthony Davis OT returns to the team
Free Agency
Alex Mack C 5 year deal - We have a ton of money and Mack comes back to the Bay Area. Solidifies the inside of the line and now the O-Line is much more of a strength of the team than the weakness that it was last year.
Tamba Hali OLB 3 year deal - Still an effective pass rusher, a much better mentor for guys like Lynch and Harold than Brooks has been.
Malik Jackson DE 4 year deal - Started all 16 games at DE for the #1 ranked defense in the NFL with the Broncos in 2015. Ideal size at the position, even at his position has shown the ability to get after the QB (14 sacks the last 3 seasons, 5 sacks in 2015).
NFL Draft
Titans - Laremy Tunsil OT
Browns - Jared Goff QB
Chargers - Joey Bosa DE
Cowboys - Ramsey CB/S
Jaguars - Hargreaves CB
Ravens - Buckner DE
49ers - Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss- If this scenario played out I think we would look to trade down with a team willing to take Paxton Lynch here but for the mock we take the #1 WR in the draft. Treadwell can make the catch in traffic, excellent in jump ball situations, makes difficult catches look really easy, good with picking up YAC and an excellent compliment to Torrey Smith.
Round 2 Scooby Wright ILB Arizona - Relentless going after the ball and has that non stop motor where he plays to the whistle. Can be a force playing beside a guy the caliber of Bowman. Solidifies the middle of the defense.
Round 3 Carl Nassib DE/OLB Penn State - Nassib is very very raw but his pass rushing ability is unquestionable. It will take time for him to become an every down player, but in Mike Pettine's defense it's all about rushing the QB (his Buffalo defense in 2013 had 57 sacks on the year) and Nassib can do that very well. Never hurts to have multiple guys who can rush the QB, Lynch, Hali, Harold and now Nassib. A good group of pass rushers right there.
Round 4 Devontae Booker RB Utah - Good speed, good vision, can catch the ball well and can run effectively in between the tackles or off tackle. Shows ability to break tackles too. Good do it all RB who can back up Carlos Hyde.
Round 4 (Comp pick) Romeo Okwara DE Notre Dame - Okwara becomes the backup to Armstead while Dial is the backup for Jackson
Round 5 A - Joe Haeg OT North Dakota St - Depth on the O-Line, competes with Trent Brown as backup OT, could also learn the OG positions too.
Round 5 B - Cyrus Jones CB Alabama - Jones Competes with guys like Acker, Reaser and Cromartie for the #4 CB spot.
Round 5 C - Elijah Shumate S Notre Dame - Reid and Tartt start at safety, Ward showed he can also play Safety but I'd like to get someone who can become the primary Safety backup to allow Ward to continue to be effective as the nickel back
Round 6 A - Vincent Valentine NT Nebraska - Valentine at 6'3 320 has the size to compete with Mike Purcell as Ian Williams' backup at NT
Round 6 B - Trevone Boykin QB TCU - Serious character concerns after his recent incident but there is talent there to develop and it's worth the risk in the 6th round
Round 6 C - Jack Allen C Michigan State - Allen comes in for competition for Marcus Martin as backup Center
Round 6 D - Here I'm open to suggestions for a possible return specialist? Not crazy about Ellington as the returner.
