NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter believes that Clemson CB Mackensie Alexander could be in for a draft slide.
"There's no doubt that Alexander has talent. And I'm guessing that he ends up a solid NFL starter who plays for a long time," Reuter wrote, "But he did not display above-average ball skills in college, and he only gave teams two years of film to evaluate by coming out as a redshirt sophomore." While Reuter points to Alexander's lack of interceptions with the Tigers (the lack of "above-average ball skils" he references), Pro Football Focus does not believe that matters, going so far as to say in March that "[a]nybody criticizing him for zero college interceptions is missing the point entirely." They might not like that criticism, but it is unlikely to simply wash away at this point. Some teams might also knock him for his size at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds.

"Numerous sources" have told TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline that Clemson CB Mackensie Alexander is "a very difficult person to deal with off the field."
Additionally, "some of his [college] coaches are giving Alexander less than rave reviews to NFL teams." The junior cornerback's been the topic of discussion across war rooms leading up to the draft, and it sounds like the off-field issues could push Alexander down draft boards. Alexander is viewed by some as the defensive back with the best ball skills in this class and a potential mid-first round pick. Alexander is 5'10/190 and ran a 4.47 at the Tigers' Pro Day.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein predicts that Clemson CB Mackensie Alexander will slide out of Rd. 1.
"The general public has been in love with Alexander as a draft prospect for a while, but I'm not sure that NFL teams feel the same way about him," he wrote. "Alexander's size (5-foot-10, 190 pounds) is a concern for many teams I've spoken with as they see him as more of a slot corner than an outside player." According to previous reports, some NFL teams believe Alexander is a difficult person to deal with off the field, which also could hurt his cause. "If he had a history of making a ton of plays on the ball, it would probably land him in the first round, but he didn't make any interceptions at Clemson," Zierlein wrote.
dude is dropping!
