Not a position of need
Say what? Of course its a position of need. Staley will be 32 next fb season and his play is in decline. Davis may or not play well after a year off. That remains to be seen. The can easily move Davis inside anyway and play Stanley at RT.
Building the OL has to be a top priority for this team because last year was about as bad as it can get.
Staley is playing well. Davis said he'll be back. Brown played very well. That's 3 solid starters, where one one ride the pine. Another 1st round pick at the position doesn't make sense.
Maybe not to you but I think it makes perfect sense. How long do you think Joe Staley is going to play at even a good level. You think he is playing well but I saw a player whose skills are declining. Stanley is an elite pass blocker and can play LT. Neither Anthony Davis or Brown are left tackles.
The Niners have to build for the next few years and not just worry about next season. Stanley would be an important piece to get this OL back to being a solid unit.
