I don't see anyone taking a discount to play for this team at this point. Wilkerson isn't coming here for $11 million a year, Smith isn't coming back for 1 year $5 million (Raiders or another team would pay him at least that much, so why would he go back to a bottom feeder that just cut him), and I don't know if Williams will come back for 3 years $6 million if he plays pretty well the rest of the season.
This article details the contracts of Cameron Heyward, Corey Liuget, and Cameron Jordan, none of whom are as good as Wilkerson.

They all got 10-12 million, the cap is going up, and Wilkerson is better than all of them. He has 4 sacks through 5 games this season and is going to get paid (probably 14 million per year). Given the state of the 49ers franchise and uncertainty about the coaching staff long term (and high taxes in CA), we're going to have to overpay if we want players. It sucks, but such is the life of rebuilding teams.
Would be very happy if the draft turns out like this. Dobbs is a 2-3rd round prospect according to CBS so maybe we could package the 4th round pick we used on Brothers and the 5th round pick for him.

I disagree with almost everything you put up there. Putting together a team is about buying high & selling low. You're doing neither in this scenario.
1. Alex Boone sucks. Badly. He was riding the rest of the OL's coat tails before. Good riddance to his sorry **s.
2. Muhammad Wilkerson is going to command mega bucks. I wouldn't cry over that move, but is he really going to be the guy you want to give that kind of money? A team usually only gets to sign 1 guy like that (last time it was JSmith, and Wilkerson is no JSmith).
3. Why on earth would you cut Dorsey? He's out-performing his contract. He's still young too. Just move him back to NT now that Ian is injured.
4. Cutting Vance McDonald is insane IMO. He's making chicken scratch. You don't cut a young, blocking TE who's making next to nothing. You give a guy like that a cheap contract extension! (buy low).
The one thing with which I agree is giving Aldon another shot (if Kaepernick is gone of course). He was the best player on the team when he was cut; you might as well take a shot with this crappy of a team. But if they keep Kaepernick (which they'd be insane to do), Aldon would never come back after the crap he pulled.

I also like Brothers.
I also have no issue with the draft, love Doctson, top 5 WR IMO.
FA moves are fine, if Wilkerson is free to sign, I say sign him, not sure Baalke(if still GM) will give a deal that big though.

I have a few issues.
One, Boone won't take 30M, he will, and likely get 40M+ from someone.
Two, Aldon, no way he comes back on a 1yr $5M deal, he will want a long term deal, and I don't think he cares or thinks he owes us, since he left he has been heard saying that he feels better in a organization that cares about there players.
Three, Jaylon Smith would start over Hodges at ILB.
Four, Jarron Jone has never played this year, he has been out since before week 1, I don't think he comes out, he is a Junior.
Questions..since we have the money would you compete and sign Boone to a deal worth that much ?
And I've also read things too where Aldon had said those things but I don't see anyone giving him a long term deal and if so it's going to be a kap type right ? Where the team can possibly cut ties each year easily ?
Would you rather jaylon smith at OLB ? Or ILB ? Which do you feel he would perform better at ?
Thanks..
Honestly I wouldn't sign him for 40M, but eventually they will need to pay a LG top tier money to keep stability
I like Jaylon anywhere, OLB or ILB, he is a stud.
I just can't see Aldon coming on a deal worth less than what he gets this year, or what he would have gotten this year had he not f**ked up. I personally rather move on from him, we invested in him, and he screwed up numerous times, waste of space IMO.
AB,
What about using Boone as leverage to re-signing Anthony Davis? Ask Davis to re-sign immediately after the season or the team will play Boone at RT and pay him tackle money. If Davis says no, re-sign Boone as the RT. If Davis decides later to come back, sign him to play RG.

We don't need to resign Davis because he is still under contract we just to ger him out of retirement.

Who knows, he has never had this much cap space to work with, like 50+ mil with the rollover.
