Basically Baalke didn't want our collective heads to explode if he drafted the punter in the mid 5th. So he waited until the late 5th.

should have waited until the 6th
and waited for Tartt until the 3rd
and waited for Smelter until 5th

This is where we draft a few offensive lineman and keep the best of the bunch because from the 5th to the 7th players dont grade out much differently. An extra pick holds more value than 12 slots or whatever.
What makes you think if we waited players wouldn't be gone? Good luck with that thinking!

Well, Tartt and Smelter would have gone, imo.
