Cooper's FINAL 2015 Mock Draft **UPDATED after each day**

***UPDATED AT BOTTOM****

Free Agency

Resign
  • Kyle Nelson
  • Blaine Gabbert
  • Chris Cook
  • Garrett Celek
  • Derek Carrier

Cut
  • Marcus Cromartie
  • Jonathan Martin
  • Joe Looney
  • Stevie Johnson
  • Cameron Fuller

Retire
  • Patrick Willis
  • Justin Smith
  • Chris Borland

Sign
  • Shareece Wright, CB- Depth at cornerback that will compete for a spot on the roster. Could add speed to the defense.
  • Jarryd Hayne, RB- Former rugby star. Has carrying ability and natural talent, just a matter of learning American football. I think he can contribute on special teams fairly quickly which may earn him a roster spot at some point in the season.
  • Darnell Docket, DT- Great player, who is past his prime, will be a great leader on the defense and will contribute in a big way replacing RayMac.
  • Reggie Bush, RB- Adds a different dimension to the running back position. Change of pace back that can catch the ball out of the backfield and line up in the slot. Injury history but also a productive history
  • Jerome Simpson, WR- Depth at the receiver position. Will take Lloyd's place in last year's offense in my opinion and be a nice deep threat.
  • Erik Pears, OT/OG- Versatile veteran that can play 4 positions on the offensive line. He'll take Jonathan Martin's spot.
  • Torrey Smith, WR- Finally, the exact receiver we've needed for years. Add another dimension to the offense with his speed and tracking ability. He will open up space in the middle for Anquan and Vernon.

Draft (Original)

Trade the 15th overall pick for Baltimore's 26th overall and 58th overall (2nd round). They trade up for Todd Gurley.

1 (26). Byron Jones, CB, UConn, 6-1 199
-I think the best value for us in the first round is a latter half of the round cornerback. Marcus Peters or Trae Waynes could potentially fall. Also guys like Ronald Darby, Jalen Collins, Kevin Johnson, and Byron Jones all have a good chance of being there, but I elect to go with Jones in this mock. Side note, I would be very happy with any of these corners. Obviously he was one of the most talked about prospects after his world record performance at the combine, but he is much more than that. I've seen every game he's played at UConn and he was the best player in the defensive backfield as soon as he stepped on the field. This backfield included future high round picks Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Dwayne Gratz. You could also make the argument that he was the best player on the defense (minus maybe Sio Moore). He is a safety convert and reminds me a little of Chris Culliver when he came out. I think Jones might actually be more fluid than Culliver was and a more natural corner. Byron is also a stand up guy that will never have off field issues and be a leader in the locker room as soon as he gets there.

Trade 46th(2nd round) pick and 126th(4th round) pick for the 35th (2nd round) pick

2 (35). Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State, 6-2 217
-I think Strong is one of the more underrated prospects in this draft and may be there in the early 2nd round. He can project as a future number 1 and Boldin's replacement, but he also has a relatively high floor in my opinion due to his combination of size, strength, and catching ability. Could turn into a nice red zone threat in the future and just needs to wok on his route running to be a complete receiver.

2 (58). Paul Dawson, LB, TCU, 6-0 235
-Dawson reminds me of a mix between Navorro Bowman and Chris Borland. Compares to Bowman for his "natural" fit as a 4-3 OLB and for his "character issues" coming out of college. Compares to Borland for his lackluster measurables despite his incredible productivity and seeming nose for the ball. Could be a Bowman/Borland esque steal in the 2nd/3rd round range.

3 (79). Bobby Richardson, DT, Indiana, 6-3 283
-Versatile, disruptive lineman with very long arms who I think will go much higher than most on the webzone and media outlets seem to think. He can be an explosive rotational player for us right now and be groomed into a traditional 5-technique to eventually replace Docket.

4 (132). Kyle Emanuel, OLB, North Dakota State, 6-3 255
-Talented, technically sound, productive rush linebacker who falls a bit due to being at a small school and playing against weak competition. Having 19.5 sacks last year coupled with an impressive combine performance makes him worth this pick if he falls.

5 (151). Austin Shepherd, OL, Alabama, 6-4 315
-Big, tough, versatile, willing blocker who would be a great addition to the o-line. Accepts any challenge thrown his way and I think he be the ultimate backup lineman for an NFL team.

6 (189). Connor Halliday, QB, Washington State, 6-3 196
-Played in a spread offense and broke his leg at the end of last season, but Halliday has a chance to be a very good NFL backup or sleeper starter for many years. Is very accurate with great touch and has a feel for throwing receivers open. Is pretty agile in the pocket but not a real threat outside of it. He might make the team just based on Baalke not wanting to risk another team snatching him before we can sign him to the practice squad.

7 (246). Rory "Busta" Anderson, TE, South Carolina, 6-5 244
-Busta has good speed to go along with great catching ability in traffic and a great willingness in blocking for a player with a slight frame for a tight end. He falls a bit due to injury concerns and his status as a "tweener" tight end between being an inline or a slot.

7 (254). DeShon Foxx, WR, UConn, 5-10 173
-Final pick in the draft I elect to go with another UConn player who's athleticism impressed despite having some of the worst quarterback play in the nation. Foxx is extremely quick and agile in the open field, and was a great return specialist in college. Also lined up at quarterback a little to show off his versatility (and maybe lack of a qb at UConn). Another UConn receiver I like here is Geremy Davis (6,2 216). Elected to go with Foxx however because Davis reminds me of a very poor man's Jaelen Strong who I already took in this mock.

NOTES
*All of the draft day trades were very conservative looking at a couple draft value charts.
*I don't have us drafting a running back because I believe Jarryd Hayne will make the team, and regardless of a position, we don't have a spot on the roster for another back considering Hyde, Bush, and Hunter.
*I tried to find a spot for Jerome Simpson on the final roster, but could not figuring in his lack of special teams ability and the combination of the Torrey Smith signing and using a high draft pick on a receiver (came down to Simpson and Patton, chose to go youth).

**UPDATED AFTER FIRST ROUND (No Mocked Trades)**

Trade 15th pick to Chargers for their 17th, 4th round pick, and 2016 5th round pick (Chargers select Melvin Gordon)

1 (17). Arik Armstead, DT, Oregon, 6-7 292
-Honestly, leading up to the draft, Armstead is the one guy I didn't want. However, I can see why Baalke made this pick and I hope he turns into the monster he has the potential to be. #InBaalkeWeTrust

2 (46). Ronald Darby, WR, Florida State, 5-11, 193
-Extremely athletic and fluid with track star speed. He has the potential to be a lock-down cornerback in the NFL and he can start from day one. Some questions about his willingness against the run, but I think those are unfounded. Teams routinely avoided his side even though there was another high draft pick (PJ Williams) on the other side.

3 (79). Ali Marpet, OG/OT, Hobart, 6-4 307
-Quick, strong, versatile lineman who had a great showing at the combine and the senior bowl. The one big knock on him was the level of competition, but he helped himself in that regard with a strong showing at the senior bowl. Get Boone out

4 (126). Sean Mannion, QB, Oregon State, 6-6 229
-Tall quarterback who ran a pro-style offense and had a lot of responsibility at the line of scrimmage. Not much mobility outside of the pocket but seems pretty comfortable with his movements within it. Doesn't have the strongest arm, but can make all the throws required with great accuracy. Can be a great developmental quarterback for Steve Logan

4 (132). Jake Ryan, LB, Michigan, 6-2 240
-Moved from the outside to the inside and proved that he can play a multitude of linebacker positions at a high level. Known as a huge film guy and loves the game. Tough, physical linebacker with good straight-line speed and is a team player. He can compete for Willis'/Borland's spot in the starting lineup with Wilhoite and I think he can win it. Baalke has proven he can take great middle linebackers in the middle rounds, and I think he continues that trend here. He has Wilhoite and Wheeler as depth in case the doesn't work out.

5 (151). Darren Waller, WR, Georgia Tech, 6-6 238
-Huge receiver with legitimate speed. Also has great body control and can high point the ball. May end up going higher than this, but if he's here, Baalke's gotta pull the trigger.

7 (246). Tevin McDonald, S, Eastern Washington, 5-11 195
-Tim McDonald's other son. Tevin has a bunch of physical tools but was kicked out of UCLA for failing drug tests. Could be a nice late-round flier who may want to get his s*%$ together and follow in his father's footsteps.

7 (254). DeShon Foxx, WR, UConn, 5-10 173
-Final pick in the draft I elect to go with a UConn player who's athleticism impressed despite having some of the worst quarterback play in the nation. Foxx is extremely quick and agile in the open field, and was a great return specialist in college. Also lined up at quarterback a little to show off his versatility (and maybe lack of a qb at UConn). Another UConn receiver I like here is Geremy Davis (6,2 216).

Love the value you get with first 3 picks.

Mock endorsed!
Yes, very well done for sure! Trades are the key. Baalke has traded the most of any GM over the same span (18).
Good job.. yours might be my favorite I've seen. Really like the first 4 picks. trading down is key in this draft!
We can really stockpile the roster with good players.
I wouldn't be mad at this mock at all.
Nice mock. I might take a chance and trade back again from 26 to aprox 31 and pick up another 3rd rounder and see if Byron Jones or one of the other CB's is still on the board. I don't think all 6 will be gone in the 1st 31 picks but even if they were we could go WR at 31 and still have two 2nd rounders and two 3rd rounders and two 4th rounders to load up with.
Pretty solid mock.

Like the trades and I'm sure Trent will be active.
Very very solid mock. I was and am a huge Jalen Strong fan, only I feel he is not worth pick 15 and will not be there at pick 46. Good job getting the needs in. Minor tweak is I would prefer Henry Anderson at 3-4 DE in third, but that is splitting hairs. Great job.
Appreciate the responses and positive feedback! Wasn't sure how everyone would like the Byron Jones pick but glad to see you guys would be on board.
I like it. The trade down is nice. if the draft fell this way it would be great. I will be a little upset if they draft Strong at 15, which some have the 49er doing.

Nice mock
Very strong first three picks. If we can pull that off with peters instead in the first, I'm a happy man.
Excellent mock. I hope peters is there instead but probably will not.
Solid mock! I like Jones a lot, I hope they did there homework on him with his shoulder injury.

Dawson is my favorite ILB, and Richardson has been my sleeper for a while.

good job
Nice mock!
