There's a ton of WR talent in the draft. No need to trade up for one.
If a trade up is necessary, I say trade a 2016 pick since we will have some compensatory picks to work with.

Too much talent in the 20 - 45 range.
Eddie Goldman, Marcus Peters, Gurley, DGB, Devin Smith, PJ Williams. Any of these guys would be great picks in that range (some better than others).
Plus, there are a ton of players in the late 2nd to 3rd round who could be key acquisitions like Devin Funchess, Danielle Hunter, Phillip Dorsett, and maybe even Bryce Petty.
The draft is very front-loaded at a lot of positions. Particularly WR, C, LB/Pass-Rusher, and OT. Deeper positions would be OG, CB, and DL. All that said though, in the first 15 picks, there more than enough talent to pick from that a guy worth that spot should be available there.
Projected "High First Round (meaning Top 20 or better) Talents"
1. WR Amari Cooper
2. WR Devante Parker
3. WR Kevin White
4. DL Danny Shelton
5. DL Leonard Williams
6. QB Marcus Mariota
7. QB Jameis Winston
8. LB Vic Beasley
9. LB Dante Fowler
10. OL Brandon Scherff
11. OL Cameron Erving
12. OL La'el Collins
13. LB Randy Gregory
14. LB Shane Ray
15. CB Trae Waynes
16. DE/LB Alvin "Bud" Dupree
17. OT Andrus Peat
18. OT Ereck Flowers
19. RB Melvin Gordon
20. DL Eddie Goldman
21. CB Kevin Johnson
22. CB Marcus Peters
23. DL Arik Armstead
24. DL Malcolm Brown
25. S Landon Collins
All the above are players that many believe could go in the top 20. At #15, we surely are able to land one of these.

The bold is said every single year. It never fails. But the reality is there are only a few true impact WRs in each draft and if you're not in the top 10, you probably will need to trade up for one. I'm talking about true difference makers like Megatron, AJ Green, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham (not top 10, but close and we wouldn't have landed him at 15 last year), etc. These are guys that can burn a defense and put your offense over the top (and by "burn a defense," I don't mean run past them on go routes as a one-trick pony). We haven't had a guy like that since Owens was here over 10 years ago.
The ONLY potential #1 WR we could land without trading up is Dorial Green-Beckham, whom I have no problem choosing, but his off the field issues will probably cause Baalke to pass on him (which I believe will be a mistake) unless we can get him in the 2nd or beyond, which I doubt will happen. Outside of that, we'd have to hope Kevin White or Amari Cooper fall all the way down to us, which is even less likely than DGB being available for us in the 2nd.
The "ton of talent" you speak of is mostly guys that will be able to contribute and put up some numbers in the right system & situation, but not guys that defenses will fear and game plan around. They will not be the disruptive forces that a top talent wide receiver will be. Of course, there are always exceptions (T.O. himself was one, being drafted in the 3rd), but that isn't very common and I'm not comfortable gambling if the opportunity for a much safer bet is available to us, even if it costs us to move up and get him.
Just my thoughts.

I've loved Waynes since I was unimpressed w/ his teammate Dennard last season & thought he was the best CB on the team by far. He'd be a great pick IMO. But I can't help but thinking Peters or PJ Williams would be better values in the 20 - 40 range (depending on which) than Waynes at 15.
I honestly haven't seen Kevin Johnson enough to have an informed opinion on him. This was a busy year.

Very very very true. We need a difference maker not a speedster or a possession guy. Most of the great ones, including fitz were top 10 guys or close to it. Even miss was top 10 but fell a little bit bc of non football stuff. Hopefully dgb may be that guy this year that we could get or even trading up a few spots for Parker if he is comparable to aj green that would be great.

This would be a dream come true. But I don't see DGB falling into the 2nd round.

And I might be in the minority but I want the trade up and I want it for Collins... a freaking guard. I can't believe I actually want to trade up for a guard.
I think he is exactly what we need though...

I believe Baalke is trading down to get an extra high Rd pick. Most of the value of guys I see him going after are later in the 1st Rd. The only one I see at #15 Baalke taking would be Parker, but doubt he falls to there.
In the 20-25 range, Baalke could have his choice of Goldman, Carl Davis (though believe Baalke goes DL in the 2nd Rd with Hardison), Bud Dupree, Jalen Collins, Marcus Peters, Jaelen Strong, Dorial Green-Beckham, Breshad Perriman, Andrus Peat, La'el Collins, Cameron Erving.
My bet he goes CB or WR in latter 1st Rd.

if Trent starts selling future picks then we know his ass is on the line. It's win or your out. In that case I think we trade up for whoever Trent thinks is the best player in the draft. I'm talkin top 5.

No need to trade up, BPA will fall in Baalkes lap at #15. Trae Waynes is probably the only player I'd hope to trade up for, other than that we could trade back and get Marcus Peters. Danny Shelton, Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley at #15 if they stay at 15.
