Black Monday Mock

Now I know there's nothing to alleviate the shock/uncertainty that recent events have cast on the 49ers. But this upcoming draft will be crucial in determining what type of shape the team will be in the next coming three, four years.

The following is my perspective of how Baalke can restore confidence in the franchise and the fanbase. I believe this mock is realistic and achievable.

Now, this mock is taking for done the Smith/Willis retirement, the Gore to Eagles signing and also the Torrey Smith to the 49ers deal.

ROUND 1

Pick 1. I want Balkee to trade back a few spots and pick up an extra 3rd rounder.

The pick: Eddie Goldman - DT - Florida

Who knows how healthy Dockett will be and depth in the defensive line will now be more crucial than ever. We need a big run stopper, someone who will command double teams and free up Aldon.

ROUND 2

Pick 2. The Pick: Byron Jones CB - UCONN

Maybe we resign Cox, but I don't see Culliver returning. This guy is just a freak, as he showed at the Combine.

Pick 3 Baalke uses the extra third and trade a pick next year to move back int the 2nd round round.

The Pick: Denzel Perryman - LB- Miami

Now I know everyone wants to make their case for Borland. And yes he was a great find in the 3rd round but I'm still not sure his body will be able to sustain being a starter for a full season. This guy is just a dog. Period. He's athletic and more dynamic. Just a vicious hitter. See for yourself. The new 52... DP

ROUND 3

Use the initial 3rd rounder and pick.....

Jeremy Langford RB - Michigan State

We need a nother back to compliment Hyde. This guy is very fluid, in between the tackles runner. Next Le'veon Bell?

ROUND 4

Pick 1: Bryce Petty QB - Baylor

If Balkee really is thinking of replacing Kaep, it's better to get a QB in this draft to learn the system. Regardless, Kaep mneeds a backup to push him.. some real competition. I like this guy a lot, and I know many don't think he's a franchise qb, but the team would look very similar to when Alex Smith was at the helm.

Compensatory Pick:

Tre McBride - WR - William & Mary

He's from a small school, and many havn't heard of him but do yourself a favor and check out the link below. The guy is a stud.

ROUND 5

Pick: Jamil Douglas - OG - ASU

Depth for the O-line. I like this guy in the later rounds. He seems like a sleeper to me.

ROUND 6

Pick: Ray Drew - DE - Georgia

Depth behind Lynch and Aldon.

ROUND 7

Pick 1: Nick Marshall - CB - Auburn

Great athlete/project. Could also occupy 3rd QB slot in the future.

Compensatory Pick: Corey Robinson - OT - South Carolina

O-line depth

Like the mock...I wouldn't be surprised if they grab some more players in FA now thay they have cash to spend.
Really like the first 3 picks.

I'm a real Goldman fan and think he'll be atop player for a long time.

Yeah bro, ditto. I think we need to go heavy on defense in this draft. If we sign Torrey,we won't have such a glaring need at wr.
We played without Willis and Bowman last year and the defense performed at an elite level (wasn't it the 5th ranked?). Did you guys watch last year's offense? Torrey Smith will be little to no improvement over the combination of Crabtree/Lloyd.
love the heavy defense. Our defense got hit hard on black Monday so no mocks should have us taking a WR in the 1st anymore IMO. We need to get younger and build depth on Defense and our offense is staying pretty much intact if you consider how gore, crabs, and iupati are being replace by people of similar or better talent.

How so? Crabtree or Llyod did not get separation last year, CB's hung on them like drapes. T. Smith will out run most Corners.

Excellent draft, believe Baalke does go DL, CB with first 2 picks and trades down in the 1st a few spots. Other DL possibilities in addition to Goldman, would be Carl Davis in the lower 1st or Preston Smith DE in the 2nd (would be my choice). Byron Jones in addition to great athlete was team captain and leader in the UConn locker room. Langford and McBride are in my upcoming mock as well. Another choice at ILB in the 2nd Rd is Stephone Anthony, Clemson.
Nice mock. I think we should go heavy on D as well

yeah Carl Davis would be a great option too, I just like Goldman better. Not to mention his name is perfect. Yeah I see Byron Jones as an Eric Reid type pick. Smart, mature, physical. Future leader on defense.

I like Langford a lot. He's not a burner per say but man those cuts.

Platoon LBs against Seattle. Put Moody and those go-go-gadget arms in against Graham on passing downs.

I'm still on the Shaq Thompson bandwagon...

He's 6'0 even. He looks really athletic. Yeah, Borland is great against the run, but he'll be exploited on coverage against TE's all day.
