You would think it was obvious. Now if a great ILB drops to us in round 3 or 4 we could draft him for depth as best player available but ILB is way down the list of needs we have.
DL, OL, CB, RB seem to top the list as well as a receiever who has potential to be a true #1 for the future.

It's gonna be Borland or Michael Wilhoite. I'd love for Baalke to draft Denzel Perryman or maybe Hayes Pullard outta USC who had a pretty solid Combine IMO.

Sorry but Borland doesn't convince me at all. Can't belive we might replace him for Willis. Doesn't even come close to what Willis brings to the table. We need to get a leader and someone that can cover and tackle as well. Borland should only be backup.

I will go on record to guarantee you that the 49ers will draft another ILB in this draft. Look for the team to target one of the following: Stephone Anthony, Mike Hull, Taiwan Jones, or Jake Ryan.

again, as good as Borland is, the guy is limited... his limited athletic ability will be exposed by those slot backs.. ...
the guy sure is a football player, but he's not a 3 down LB..
I'm all for McKinney.. all of last year, it was his name that I heard each Saturday morning each time ESPN crew spoke about D!!

With Graham going to Seattle, ILB should be one of the priorities in the draft.

This. My sleeper pick if the 49ers are going with an ILB. Has been a favorite of mine for awhile. Plus he tore his ACL in college so you know Baalke's already got him way up on his board.

Borland will start and I'm sure we'll draft someone in the middle rounds to go with Wilhoite as the backups. For a rookie Borland was highly impressive his instincts are incredible and he should only get better. Plus we should have Bowman back at 100%

Its incredible how underrated Borland is. The guy was a Pro Bowl alternate after starting less than half the games. He has an overwhelming impact out on the field, not sure how much more you could have asked from a rookie, sure his weaknesses are in coverage but that is the role that Bowman was handling anyways. Borland's impact on the game on 1st and 2nd downs is huge, he's got outstanding football instincts that always put him near where the football is, Not sure if people are just spoiled or what but a lot of teams would love to have Borland as a starting ILB. He clearly showed that he belongs and can be a playmaker in the NFL.

Bowman moves into P52's spot. Borland in where Bowman was. Wilhoite a backup, unless he beats Borland for the starting spot. Skov competes for a spot with Moody and a draft pick. Looks good to me!

Borland is a very good linebacker, but he's definitely a significant drop off to Patrick Willis. There are some limitations with Borland. His coverage ability isn't the best and you can't depend on him to man someone up in coverage. He lacks the speed to hang with the faster guys in coverage and the height/length to cover the bigger guys. Willis had very good length and great speed and that's why we could depend on him in guarding some of the better tight ends in the league.
Now the logical move for the 49ers defense is to move Bowman to Willis's role of taking on more of the coverage responsibilities with Borland taking over Bowman's role. But I think people would be a lot more comfortable with drafting another inside backer high in the draft that has some similarities to Patrick Willis in terms of length, athleticism, and coverage ability. Remember Jimmy Graham is in the division now. You probably want to have a backer with the athleticism/length to be able to take Graham on sometimes without having to depend on safety help every single play.
