Do McShay's mock drafts have any particular significance?
In my estimation, most mocks drawn up by posters in Niner Talk seem much more informed and relevant.
But, I have never paid any attention to McShay. Have his mocks been particularly accurate over the years?

I`m with you dragon,I watch smith play and he seems to be a "One-Trick-Pony" given if White is not there then I would take DGB. Takin g Paker would be like adding ANOTHER possesion receiver.
Gotta coach him up. Everybody isn't perfect coming in the league. This is where your coaching staff makes their money. And he might be more skillful than we know. Him being a one trick pony might be a product of Ohio state's offense. Personally i think him going that high is overboard but you can improve on his skills.
But should we draft a project in round 1? I think Smith goes in round 3 or possibly late round 2.

Round 2 Pick 32 (G.B.): Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia (A)
Round 4 Pick 4 (JAX): Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas (A)
Round 4 Pick 27 (IND): Charles Gaines, CB, Louisville (A)
Round 4 Pick 32: Kurtis Drummond, FS, Michigan State (A)
Round 5 Pick 3 (JAX): B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State (B+)
Round 6 Pick 4 (JAX): Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State (B+)
Round 6 Pick 31 (IND): Chucky Hunter, DT, TCU (A)
On first pick draft simulator, my worst grade was taking him in the 6th round.
He seems more like a shorter ted Ginn that can't return kicks, then a desean Jackson. I wouldn't want him at 15.

smith has "easy" speed. that means speed, with no loss of athleticism when using it. it's rare. lots of player are track fast, but can't do a whole lot when they're moving at elite speed, so they're nothing special. smith is in command of his athletic talents at any speed. reminds me of terry glenn. remember him?

What I wanna know is, how is he as a route runner overall, being a one-trick pony doesn't get you far in the NFL. Honestly, speed, arm strength and measurables doesn't really excite me, what I wanna know is can he put it altogether on the field.

With my 2 favourite prospects (based on where I thought they'd go) gaining steam (DGB and Gurley), I'm thinking they both may price themselves out of the range where their potential outweighs their risks.
So I'm fully on the treade-up-for-Leonard-Williams bandwagon now. This draft isn't very deep (especially at DL). I'm on the Suh badwagon, but I'd rather the Niners trade up for Leonard Williams.
That is, of course, if they're going to stay with a 3-4 defense. If they go to a 4-3, I'm not as sure Leonard Williams would be worth it.

Then again, his one trick is what the NIners offense needs. It would be great to see the total package in our next WR draft pick (White, Parker or Cooper?), but that speed would be nice to have, too.

Jalen Collins over PJ Williams would be a huge mistake IMO.

I'm loving this pick. I was hoping to get Devin Smith in the 2nd, but I'll take him in the first. I like Smith's speed, he consistently beat teams deep with safeties over the top. He did this against some of the best competition in college football this year. I also like that he's over sex feet tall, unlike the other burners in this draft who are under 5'10". Stop over thinking this, Smith only needs to be able run the fly, post, crossing routs, deep come back, and a hitch.

Yeah, but from the highlight reel it seems like all 33 receptions were for 60 yard bombs where he blew through coverage.
