There were admittedly stories about the Browns wanting to trade for Brooks last year, but do we really think someone is going to give us draft picks for Brooks now?
To do so we are speculating that:
1) Teams believe that Brooks is worth the 8.5 million a year that they'd have to pay him IN ADDITION to the the draft pick(s) they'd have to give up for him. Is that true?
2) Teams ALSO believe there's actually a chance of the 49ers not cutting Brooks, despite the fact that they'll be in cap trouble, he's in the last two "dummy" years of his contract that he was never going to collect on to begin with, his replacement is already on the team, and he was a malcontent in his reduced role last year (meaning the chances of him restructuring to be a backup or split time on the 9ers are essentially nil).
So my question is: Why would someone trade draft picks for Brooks when all signs point to people who might want him being able to get him for 1) less money and 2) no picks for next year if they so desire.
In including draft picks for Brooks in our mocks it seems to me that we're speculating that other teams are stupid, and I doubt they are.
Please explain to me why I'm wrong.
