Projections from draft pundits may or may not mean very much.
Davis had a very good week at the Senior Bowl. Frequently, it seems, that players move themselves up the draft boards with a good week at the Senior Bowl.
If he has a good combine, he might go in the first, but I still think the second is more likely.
Really don't know where that 5th round projection came from -- Davis opened this season by most knowledgeable draft prognosticators as a 2nd-3rd round projection. His season and then Senior Bowl vaulted him into 1st round consideration.
I'm changing my mind, have been studying him like crazy since this post.
HE DESERVES THE HYPE
He will fill in nicely as the Early down strong side D-lineman replacing Ray Mac in rotation with Dial. On the other side I can picture a rotation of Dockett and Carradine. On third down I can picture Tank, Dockett, and Davis collpasing the pocket.
Only problem i'm seeing is him not making it out of the 1st round. Is he worth #15 overall? Trading down is also an option but i don't like to speculate and theorize on potential trades.
Whether or not Davis will make it out of the first round, I don't know, but I grade him a 1st round talent. He can beat the OL in so many different ways, it's hard not to be impressed with his game. He can truck you, use the swim move, rip you aside, or athletically/quickly run by some OL. You do not see a "lazy" player on the field, as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to his effort.
